With all that’s been going on around the world, I’ve been finding more and more ways to connect with my children. We have always enjoyed playing games together, and we have been doing a lot more of that lately too. Since all that has happened, they have been home all the time and they have been doing a lot of homeschooling too. Since we enjoy playing games together so much, we have found some newer games to help keep us entertained. OjO Games has a great variety of fun games for the whole family.
Games
OjO is a pioneering educational toy company for young future innovators. They make problem-solving kits based around real-world problems that stimulate children’s curiosity, creativity and critical thinking skills, brought to life by a family of characters, playful narrative and colourful design.
They are STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Math) game specialists. Their mission is to enrich families by providing “A Smarter Way to Play”, inspiring learning through open-ended play. They design fun games and toys, whether you’re shopping for extra-curricular activities or a special gift, they have the games and toys to truly make an impact on your child’s life.
Robot Workshop
The Robot Workshop Game offers a new way to learn about Robotics systems, structures and functions. Inspired by NASA’s CURIOSITY ROVER sent to Mars children solve missions and challenges while building problem solving skills and imagination, while having fun with family and classmates!
This game was a lot of fun because you get to try to figure out which robot pieces go along with what the card said. One card may ask about which would help a robot go across dirt or sand, you’d have to figure out which legs would be best suited for that. I can be a bit of a challenge for kids to figure this out, but I think it’s wonderful. My kids have done a great job figuring out all the pieces that create the robot. It’s a lot of fun seeing what they come up with. The more you play the easier it gets since you’ll start to remember what all the pieces are really for. A great game for kids!
Space Rescuers
The Space Rescuers board game reveals some fun facts about our solar system, the planets and their positions in relation to the sun. Players learn about the impact of space waste as they clean up along the way, on their mission to rescue space!
This space game was one of our favorite games. We have played this one the most so far. My kids really enjoy it a lot. It’s fun to be able to learn about space and the planets too. The more answers you get correctly, the more pieces you’ll get in your recycling bin. You’ll get to move around the board and either get a planet or space card. Each of these cards have different questions that you’ll need to try to answer correctly. The person with the most pieces in their recycling bin at the end of the game will win.
Food Battles
The Food Battles board game introduces players to the major organs, their location and function within our bodies, while focusing on the digestive system and how diet effects our health. Players must collaborate to achieve a healthy human body and win food battles!
This game is great for being able to learn more about the body. In this game you want to get as many green pieces as you can, and try not to get to many of the red ones. You’ll have to try to answer these questions correctly so that you get the green pieces. You also want to be able to get as many of the fruits and veggies as you can as well. Those are going to help you along the way. My kids and I were able to learn a lot from this game. It was a very fun and interesting game.
Atomic Force
The Atomic Force board game teaches fundamental chemistry concepts. Players get an avatar and dice to cross the board from start to finish, collect Protons, Neutrons and Electrons and solve different challenges to build simple elements and compounds.
If you love chemistry, then this is the game for you. This game was probably the more challenging game out of all of them. Sometimes you may land on a spot where you have to build elements and compounds. This is the part where it can become a bit challenging. My daughters and I were able to figure them out, but they can still be challenging. That’s what we loved about this game though. We love a great challenge when it comes to games.
Dino Age Journey
The Dino Age Journey game offers the exciting opportunity for players to become Dino-Detectives and discover fossils! Players learn about paleontology, the tools used by real archaeologists and Carbon Dating, the method of calculating a fossil’s real age.
If you have kids who love dinosaurs, I’m sure they’ll enjoy this game. In this game you want to be the one with the most items in your museum at the end of the game. It’s fun being able to learn more about dinosaurs while playing this too. My kids really enjoyed this one a lot, and they did a great job at picking out the correct stuff for dinosaurs. Some cards show fossils and you have to try to figure out which dinosaur it belongs too. Others you may need to figure out which tool is the correct one for something. There is a lot to learn with this one and it’s a lot of fun too.
DNA Factory
Build your own hybrid animal while learning about the secret formula of DNA!
DNA composition, and how it has cells with different parts such as the nuclei and ribosome
how the Ribosome shoots RNA to the nuclei to create the DNA Code
DNA has the code to different parts of the body and life
The player who is able to build its character first wins the DNA factory game!
This was probably one of the games my kids loved the most. They really enjoyed being able to try to hit the target with the balls and the arrow. Each of these cards have different characters body pieces, and you need to try to gather them all. If you hit the target in the right spot, you get to have a piece of your body. It’s certainly lots of fun!
I’d highly recommend any of these games. They are a lot of fun, and educational as well. We love games that can teach kids a lot, that’s why we’ve really enjoyed these. My kids have been asking to play them a lot too, so that is always a huge plus. We sure enjoy them all.
