30 Day No Sugar Challenge

4 January, 2023 by KatBp 32 Comments

I was scrolling through TikTok one day and I cam across a video about a 30 day no sugar challenge. I was really interested, so I dug in some more and learned about what it was. This challenge is for the whole month of January. You have to completely cut out all sugars, and yes that means sugar from fruits as well.

30 Day No Sugar Challenge

Once I saw all the items on the list that you could and couldn’t have, I was a bit worried that I may not be able to do it. I love fruit, and not being able to have that for a whole month will be tough, but I’m really going to try to make this work. You can’t have any sugar at all through the whole month of January. You’d be surprised to see how many things actually have sugar in them too. Lots of hidden sugars are in products as well, so I had to be careful what I bought.

I’m not doing this challenge to lose weight or anything, but more to just better myself. I want to try to stick to a more healthier diet, and if I can stick to this challenge for the month, I think I can do it more often. I know how much sugar can really keep you down and feeling crummy. There is a great page on Facebook with a lot of good recipes and advice and such.

It is only day four of me trying out this challenge so far, but overall I’m doing good. I’ve stuck to it so far, and hope to make it the whole way through. The group on Facebook has really helped me out a lot. Everyone is very supportive and encouraging. It’s nice to see what everyone comes up with for foods and recipes as well. It can be challenging trying to come up with something different, but it has been interesting trying to figure it out.

The hardest thing for me, is finding out what kind of snacks to make to eat. I recently gave zucchini chips a try for a snack, and they were surprisingly good. My oldest daughter ate some of them with me as well. She really loved them too. I’m not surprised though, because she loves her vegetables. Normally I just snack on plain veggies, but I know eventually I’m going to want something more.

The Wellness Way also has a website where you can get a lot of information off of. You’ll find recipes to help you along the way, along with some articles, books, and so much more. I highly recommend checking out their website to learn more of  what The Wellness Way No Sugar Challenge is all about before you start.

There are going to be a lot of side effects from doing this challenge as well, but stick to it. The side effects are only temporary. You can do it! I’ve already had some side effects myself, which would be trouble sleeping and headaches/migraines. Of course I went in to this being sick already with a cold, so that probably had a big part to do with all this as well. I’m hoping that will all pass very soon. The best you can do is keep going through with it and have lots of water and do light exercises.

I’m interested to see how each week will turn out to be as I continue with this challenge. I know it isn’t always going to be easy, but I love a challenge, and I know my body could use this. No sugar for the whole month of January. Lets do this!

I couldn’t do this, but good luck to the people who do! I know I should eat healthier but so long as I can fit into my pants, I won’t worry much about it.

I figured for the month I could give it a try. It has been hard, but I’m sticking to it.

This is a tough challenge for me but it is useful information to know. I have been trying to cut back on sugar as it causes my lungs to be more inflamed.

There are so many products with sugar in it. It’s crazy after giving this challenge a try how many things really do have sugar in them.

Sugars from fruits and veggies are really not that bad for you. I would not be able to do this.

That’s the challenge, and once it’s done I’ll be slowly adding in fruit again. I just really want to give this a try to see how it does. It’s just like a detox for 30 days. You can add in some of those fruits again after.

Coming off sugar is super hard because it seems like it is hidden in everything. I would have a hard time giving up the heathly fruits like berries, rice and pasta. But I think I could alter the amount of sugar I eat by watching my portion sizes or finding an alternative that I do like.

It is hard not being able to have fruits. Once the 30 days are up though, I’ll be adding some fruits back in. It’s more like a detox for 30 days for me.

Agreed! I’m not looking to lose weight, but in the first four days I’ve started, I’m already losing weight.

Sugar is the worst for me. I can feel the impact it has on my body and I try my best to avoid it. These tips may make that easier.

As much as I know this works and you lose lots of weight… I could never do it. 20 days is like crazy long… I remember when JLo was doing a 10 alb challenge and that may be more feasible for me but may not even… LOL> Especially with having to cut out fruit… if I could at least have that I could possibly do it.

It has been really hard without all the fruit, but I’m still going through with it. I’ll add those after the 30 days are up though.

It’s always great to just get rid of the sweets and not buy them. Luckily I’m not a big fan of sweets, so I don’t crave them often.

I’ve been off sugar for a long time. and I feel so great. There are times I do go off the handle, and I can tell the difference.

It’s amazing how many foods have sugar in them. I have avoided foods with added sugar for the past year and I feel so much better.
