We’ve all had children that have gotten sick, right? I know it’s hard when a child gets sick and we want to keep them healthy. Sometimes there is no way to keep from getting sick. It’s even harder when children go to school because they’re around a lot of other kids that may be sick. If you have to take care of a sick child, you’re going to want a thermometer that is going to work quick and easy.

I received the Exergen smart glow temporalScanner thermometer to review and it works great at being quick to read temperatures. Sometimes that’s all you need from a thermometer when you have a sick child. I hate using the thermometers that have to be taken under a child’s tongue and they take forever to get the temperature reading. I also don’t think they get a correct reading.

The TemporalScanner™ comes with four ways to make it even easier to take a temperature:

  • A softly illuminated display for easy reading in any light – perfect for checking the temperature of a sleeping infant in a darkened room
  • Beeping sound indicating scanning can be turned off or on to avoid waking a sleeping child
  • Automatically retains the last eight temperature readings for instant recall to check on fever progression
  • Ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius modes

At first I was having some troubles with this thermometer. I kept getting an error message and then I’d get this message that just said “hi” instead of reading a temperature. I knew this was wrong because nobody was sick when we took their temperatures. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, so I emailed the pr to talk about it and they decided to send me a new one since this one didn’t seem to be working properly. I was very happy with the way they handled everything, and when the new one showed up it worked out great!

This product is extremely easy to use. The first thing you’ll want to do is take the protective cap off. Then you can place it on the middle of the forehead and press the button. While still holding the button you’ll want to scan it across your forehead to the right or left. Once you get to the end of your forehead you can release the button. Then you should be able to find a reading on your temperature. It’s that simple and it’s quick too! It only takes a few short seconds to get a reading.

Even my daughters love that it’s quick, because they like to move around a lot. I use to use the thermometer that went under their tongues and they’d always move. Sometimes it’s hard to get a reading because of that. I’ve always hated that method. It was that or putting it under their armpits, and sometimes they thought that tickled, so they’d move then too.

This is a great thermometer for those that want a reading fast. These are sold in major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Babies “R” Us, Toys “R” Us, Kroger and BJ’s, the Smart Glowthermometer’s suggested retail price is $49.99.
