#TacoGameNight With the Family

How many of you love having taco night? I think tacos are an easy and delicious food. There are many ways to make tacos. We love our hard and soft shell tacos the normal way, but we also love to be creative when making tacos. It’s great that tacos are so simple to make yet there are so many ways to make them. What is your favorite type of taco?

We were recently provided with this Taco Takeover game as well as a gift card to buy some taco ingredients to have a Taco Night. I knew this was going to be a great night for my family. We already love tacos and playing games as well. I was so glad to be able to host this Taco Night with my family. I already love getting together with my family, so this was going to be great.

We decided to have a lot of different ingredients for our tacos at the table. Since we all love different types of tacos, this was the best solution for us. That way we could all make up our tacos ourselves.

life

My daughters had a ton of fun making their own tacos. They may have made a mess, but that’s okay, it happens when making tacos. They can certainly become messy. It’s great just to see them having fun making their own food for dinner. It was a lot of fun making many different tacos.

Tacos

Most of the tacos we made were very simple. I personally love using hard shell tacos with lettuce, cheese, black olives, hamburger and sour cream. I also tried something a bit different. I used lettuce, black olives, rice, cheese, Fritos, and hamburgers on a hard shell taco. That was actually really good and I’ll be making more of them again soon. My husband did something very similar, except he used a soft shell taco and didn’t use lettuce or black olives. It was fun to see how we all liked to have our tacos made.

We ended the night with a game of Taco Takeover from Haywire Group. This game was extremely fun and it fit in well with the Taco Night! My oldest just turned 7, and she knows how to read most words. My youngest is 5, so she doesn’t know how to read yet. I just had to help my youngest read the cards, otherwise we were all able to play this game. What you do is you each take an ingredient card and hand them out so that everyone has one. Then you have all the ingredients in a pile in the middle. Your ingredient list card will have a list of ingredients that you must find in the middle. This is a race to see who can get their ingredients first and put those ingredients in your taco shell. A few of the cards have other things written on them, like for an example one of them says “cockroach.” That means that you must dump out all the cards you had in your taco shell back out in the middle of the pile and start over again. It’s a very fun game that my whole family enjoyed playing.

I also wanted to share a dessert taco recipe that I made for my family. These were amazing too! I really loved them and will be making them again.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 4 Tbs. Butter (melted)
  • Tortilla Shells
  • Chocolate Chips (or the chocolate bark)
  • Peanuts (crushed)
  • Fruit-blueberries & strawberries (you can use other fruit too)
  • Whipped Cream
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Vanilla Ice Cream

Instructions: First you’re going to want to take the tortilla shells and heat them over the stove and fold them so they look like tacos. Once those are all finished you will want to brush the melted button on them and immediately put them with the cinnamon/sugar. Of course you want to make sure the cinnamon and sugar is mixed up in a bowl before you do this. Next you will want to melt the chocolate and put it around the top of the shell. I used a spoon to get mine around the top. Then you’ll want to immediately sprinkle the peanuts around the chocolate. After that you want to wait til the chocolate dries up. Next you can put some ice cream inside the shell and put some fruit on top of the ice cream. Then you can add the whipped cream and drizzle some chocolate syrup on top. Then serve and enjoy!

I think this was a great idea to get us all together as a family. I will be doing more of these Taco Game Nights too. It was so much fun for everyone. It’s always great to get everyone together. I hope that you’ll check out this Taco Takeover game so that you can play it whenever you have Taco Night as well.

You weren’t kidding when you said taco night! This is awesome. You’ve got tacos, taco desserts, and a taco game. That’s the kind of taco night I can get behind.
