I’m so excited that Spring is here and Summer is right around the corner. Now my family can be outside more enjoying the beautiful weather. We all love to be outside when it’s nice out. We find a lot of things to do when the weather is nice. The only thing that isn’t very fun that comes along with nicer weather, is allergies. Those can be very difficult to deal with at times. Those that have allergies could trigger skin irritations with some children. It’s important that we be careful about this with our kids.
This often means making sure to provide our kids with the best products to help them out when the allergies do hit. Most of us look for products that are gentle on baby’s sensitive skin. Dreft is one of those products that are very gentle on baby’s skin. Dreft is the No. 1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin.
Dr. Hes has some tips for protecting baby’s sensitive skin during Spring allergy season. I’m going to share with you two of the tips she has.
Load up on liquids: Staying hydrated during the spring months is important as baby gets more active outdoor time and sun exposure. Start with the inside and ensure children get enough to drink throughout the day. Infants should nurse or take a bottle often; older kids should tote a sippy cup or reusable water bottle. Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and smoothies in your child’s diet too.
Protect Problem Skin: Heat is a common trigger for eczema and as the weather warms up, there are a few things you can do to help prevent flare ups of such skin irritations. The sun is strongest between the hours of 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. so try to shield baby from direct sun exposure during those times. There are also apps available that can inform you of the hottest part of the day – which can be helpful for parents as they plan any outings with their little ones!
Those are just a couple of her tips, and she’s got many more. There will be a Twitter party where you can join @Dreft and @gramercypeds on May 9th from 9-10 EST as they host the Twitter party with pediatrician and mom, Dr. Dyan Hes. She will be sharing more of her tips to ensure that your baby is protected and comfortable during the Spring allergy season. Make sure to RSVP HERE so that you can be entered to win some of the many great prizes.

I never use Dreft when my son was little, I used a different detergent they did not have any harsh chemicals in it. My sister-in-law uses this brand and it works the best for her son who has very sensitive skin.
It is great for those with sensitive skin. I love the scent too. It smells really good.
I actually washed all my own clothes and the baby’s clothes in Dreft. I figured I was holding my baby up against my clothes all the time so they better be good for his skin also. Dreft does a great job!

I loved the smell of Dreft but I found it a pain to wash just baby clothes. I would use Dreft or a free n clear detergent. Then I washed everything together.
I used it for all our clothes as well. I love the smell too!

I’m glad to hear that! We love the brand too!
I always at least recommend that parents wash their babies clothes in Dreft before baby arrives. You never know if you baby will be born with sensitive skin or eczema and it’s always good to be prepared when possible.
I completely agree! My youngest ended up with eczema at about 3 months. I always used Dreft.
You really hit home with me on this one. I’ve been suffering from eczema since I was a little girl and it’s hard to find products that won’t cause flare ups. Definitely need to check out Dreft’s product offerings now that you’ve mentioned them!
