Must Watch Halloween Movies

12 October, 2016 by KatBp 62 Comments

halloween

It’s crazy that Halloween is going to be here in less than two weeks! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love being able to watch all the great Halloween movies that are on T.V. as well as bringing out my girls trick or treating. I wanted to share with you a list of some of the movies I came up with for Halloween. These are some great must watch movies for Halloween. I’ve seen them all and love these! I hope that you find some on the list that you love as well. Maybe you’ll find some you haven’t seen yet either!

Family/Children:

Hocus Pocus is my number one favorite movie that comes out for Halloween. I remember watching this one all the time when I was little. I look forward to seeing this one on T.V. every year around Halloween. After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all.

Casper was probably the first movie I ever watched with ghosts in it. I can still remember watching this movie when I was little. It’s been so long since I have seen this one, which makes me want to watch it soon! A paranormal expert and his daughter bunk in an abandoned house populated by three mischievous ghosts and one friendly one.

images-2

I watched the Goosebumps movie for the first time a few days ago and loved it! This one is on Netflix, so it’s perfect for Halloween! A teenager teams up with the daughter of young adult horror author R. L. Stine after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware.

It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is another one of my favorites. It’s a great classic that I love to watch each year. This is a great one for kids too. This timeless classic from Charles M. Shultz and Bill Melendez is remastered and features many heartwarming scenes. Also included are the bonus episodes It’s Magic, Charlie Brown and Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown.

the_nightmare_before_christmas_poster

The Nightmare Before Christmas is another great classic movie. Kids can enjoy this one as well. This is one of those movies that you just can’t stop watching, at least for me it is. A perfect movie for Halloween for families! Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn’t quite understand the concept.

corpsebride_2260

I remember seeing Corpse Bride in the movie theater for the first time. It’s another great Tim Burton movie that has Johnny Depp as one of the character voices. When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.

Halloweentown is a great movie for families to watch together. I’m looking forward to watching this one with my family this year. I think my girls are going to love it. After learning she is a witch, a girl (Kimberly J. Brown) helps save a town full of other supernatural creatures.

Adult:

Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors. He plays a great role in Edward Scissorhands. This is another older movie that I really love to watch. A gentle man, with scissors for hands, is brought into a new community after living in isolation.

images

I remember watching The Craft for the first time many years ago when I was younger. I would watch this one often because I loved it. I haven’t seen this one in a while, but I’m looking forward to seeing it again! A newcomer to a Catholic prep high school falls in with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft and they all soon conjure up various spells and curses against those who even slightly anger them.

download-2

Halloween is probably one of the top classic Halloween movies of all time. On Halloween night of 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers stabbed his sister to death. After sitting in a mental hospital for 15 years, Myers escapes and returns to Haddonfield to kill.

ghostbusters-movie-poster

The original Ghostbusters movie is a great one. If you haven’t seen this one yet, I hope that you take the time to watch it. I love the original one! Three former parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.

download-3

Scream is where you’re first introduced to the killer with the mask! This mask is so well known now days. Sidney, attempting to cope with her mother’s mysterious murder, and her horror movie-obsessed friends are stalked by an unknown killer who seems to have a hard time letting the past go.

There are a ton of Halloween movies out there to watch. These are just a few of my favorites. I could make a list that could go on forever. I hope that you enjoy the list and maybe see some that you haven’t seen yet.

Have you seen any of these movies? Do you have a favorite Halloween movie you love to watch?
