When I first started the 30 day no sugar challenge, I was having a tough time at first. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d even make it through the first few days. I have to say that the first three days were difficult to me. There were no troubles for me eating anything that had no sugar in it, but I had troubles actually feeling full. I felt like everything I kept eating just wouldn’t keep me full. It was going to be a long 30 days if I kept feeling like this.
Luckily once I got to about day 4, I started to feel so much better. I was still eating well, but I was actually starting to find myself feeling full after each meal and not even needing much for snacks. Now I was starting to actually feel hopefully and start to feel like I can definitely do this. It’s tough trying out a challenge like this, but I’m so glad I stuck to it.
It Was Tough At First
There are a lot of things you may start feeling once you do start with this challenge though. I went though a lot in the beginning. There were times where my migraines got worse, and I felt tired and had a lot of trouble sleeping at night too. All of these things are only temporary though, so work through them and keep going. There is a lot you can do to try to help with this, and for me, it was lots of water to stay hydrated. Doing some light exercises always helps too. Whatever you do, just don’t give up and keep pushing though.
The 30 Day Challenge is Already Over
I couldn’t believe how fast the month went by and the challenge was already over. Honestly, I thought the month was going to drag on because of this challenge, but surprisingly, it didn’t. There were so many different things I tried out that were new to me while doing this challenge. I was able to try out so many different foods and come to actually enjoy many of them too. I will now be putting many of these foods to use over my lifetime too. Lots of great foods out there with no sugar in them, and sadly many that have to much sugar too.
I’ve Learned so Much
I learned so much thought this challenge too. Now I know what foods to look out for and which ones have sugar in them and what ones don’t. You’d be surprised at how many items actually have sugar or added sugars in them. It is surprisingly a high number of foods with sugar in them. It’s very disappointing to see so many have sugar.
Some Foods I’ve Tried
I’ve came up with so many different recipes and tried so many others while doing this challenge. I came to find out what I loved and what I didn’t through this challenge too. There were so many different things I tried that I would have never even thought to try before. I created so many different recipes and tried out a lot of them from other members of the group as well. Everyone had such great recipes, so I tried a lot of them from the group.
Yellow Squash
Chia Pudding
Zucchini Chips
The Challenge is Over, Now What?
Overall I enjoyed doing this challenge a lot. There are going to be a lot of things I’ll be changing with my eating from now on. I am definitely going to still add in some fruit because I enjoy fruit. I’ll just be watching how much I eat. I’m not going to completely be sugar free, but I’m certainly going to stay away from most sugars. I now know how much they can really affect you and your health. It’s crazy to see how addicting sugar really is. Once you get it out of your body, you feel so much better.
I personally feel amazing after completely this challenge. I’ve had so much more energy and I’m not as tired as I use to be either. I can actually feel great throughout the entire day. I even lost 12 lbs. in the 30 days I did the challenge! Such an amazing feeling! I don’t seem to get as many migraines either, so that’s a huge plus for me. I hate that I get migraines, and I know there are some foods that make them worse. I’m going to try to eliminate all foods that give me migraines as well. I’ve even had less stomach aches, which I’m sure was from all the sugar.
I’m so thankful to have been able to do this challenge. I’m excited to see where the rest of my journey will take me. I believe I’ll be doing this challenge at least once a year if not more. I think it’s a great way to learn what you should and shouldn’t eat. If you have done this challenge before, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you did as well. I know the group was a big part of why I stuck with it and kept going on. The support for everyone was amazing. I’ll be looking at foods a whole lot differently from now on out.
