The UK has quite a few family friendly attractions to boast, in big cities like London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Brighton, just to name a few. If you want to head over to the UK on a family vacation, you’re going to have a pretty good time!
However, it’s one thing to plan a family friendly vacation with plenty of things to do, but what about where you’re going to eat every night? Not all restaurants are child-friendly, and in London, some even have age restrictions that mean kids aren’t allowed.
When you’ve got hungry and cranky kids in tow, you need to know where you can go – and if the kids will actually eat anything on the menu.
As such, here’s some tips for planning out your eating itinerary for your UK trip with the kids.
Avoid Pubs
There are a lot of pubs in the UK! However, pubs can be difficult for families, as kids may not be allowed in after a certain time.
If you want to stop for lunch at a pub that’s caught your eye, you should be more than welcome to bring your family in and eat. But it can differ from place to place, and from city to city, so it can be hard to know for sure.
As such, you may want to avoid pubs wherever possible, and find other family friendly dining options, just to be safe.
Italian Food is Always a Safe Bet
Pizza is very easy for young kids and teens alike, and spaghetti is always a fun food to wrap around forks!
That’s why – if you’re visiting a city you don’t quite know – italian food is a safe bet.
And you’ll find them everywhere; there’s italian restaurants in Bournemouth, London, Brighton, and most minor towns and villages too.
Some Top Tips
Check if the restaurant delivers
In the UK, the big delivery apps are Uber, Deliveroo, and JustEat. Using one to quickly search up nearby restaurants is likely to net you an easy list of places it won’t be hard to get to.
This is where you can easily check the restaurant’s menu and price range, and immediately see any other restaurants like it using the tag filters.
You can also just use them as the delivery apps they are and order into the hotel. That’ll help prevent the kids from getting even more grumpy or overtired from being dragged across town again!
Check for a kids’ menu
Not only because it’s good to see what the kids’ range is like, but if they’ve listed their kids’ menu online too, they’re likely to be a very family friendly establishment.
The kids will be more than welcome, they won’t find it hard to settle down, and there may even be some activities to do while you wait for the food.
Family friendly food options are up and down the UK, but they can be hard to find! Use the tips to check ahead of time.
