90s babies, hold on to your diapers, because Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and their crew of boisterous babies bounce back onto modern consoles today! Fans of Nicktoons nostalgia will be excited to hear that Rugrats: Retro Rewind, a compendium of six classic Rugrats games, launches digitally today on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 courtesy of the retro revival connoisseurs at Limited Run Games.

I absolutely loved the Rugrats while I was growing up. I watched this show all the time. I remember each morning I would get up and be so excited to watch another episode of the Rugrats. It was one of the best cartoons of the 90’s. I still love them today. All the characters were the best. They’re still amazing. I even remember playing many of their video games as well. Have you ever played any of the video games?

Well, they’re back! You can play some of these classic Rugrats games again. Rugrats: Retro Rewind is here, and it is bringing back so many memories for me. I remember playing many of these games, and I had so much fun with them. I am so glad to see these making a comeback. They are the best! I’m all in for retro and nostalgia.

Rugrats: Retro Rewind features SIX classic Rugrats games that will whisk you from the Pickles’ backyard, to the streets of Paris and launch you headfirst into six unique and exciting Rugrats universes, each with their own amusing adventures.

  • Rugrats: Search for Reptar – Originally launched in 1998 for the original PlayStation, this is the Rugrats’ first adventure, guiding the boisterous babies through a jigsaw puzzle mystery.
  • The Rugrats Movie – Based on the movie of the same name, this catalog of capers was originally available on Game Boy and Game Boy Color and finds the Rugrats on a mission to seek out the missing Dil Pickles.
  • Rugrats: Time Travelers – A punchy platformer launched in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, where the begin in a toy store with a mysterious yet irresistible time machine.
  • Rugrats: Studio Tour – A 1990 action-adventure title that initially landed on PlayStation and saw the crew exploring a variety of film sets in a movie studio packed with danger and intrigue.
  • Rugrats in Paris: The Movie – This title, another fun movie spin-off, was first available on the Game Boy Color, PlayStation, and N64, and brings the team to an exciting theme park in Paris where adventures beckon.
  • Rugrats: Castle Capers – Released only for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, the Rugrats have to retrieve their stolen toys from Angelica, who is holding them hostage in a fortress-like playground set.

Every game has been lovingly recreated for today’s platforms, but for the true retro fans among us, Limited Run Games has added some customizable screen filters to recapture the warm retro feel of a CRT screen, allowing players to enjoy the games exactly how they remembered them the first time around. If your reflexes aren’t quite what they were in the 90s (and let’s face it, whose are?!), gamers returning to this classic game landscape will enjoy some quality of life updates that have been added to ease them through the tough bits of these pint-sized adventures. There’s a ‘save anywhere’ feature to ensure that any real-life interruption in play won’t have a gaming penalty, a rewind feature so that any wrong steps can be quickly corrected, and perhaps our favorite part – a music player so true Rugrats fans can enjoy the bright and bouncy soundtrack even when they’re not playing the game.

If you enjoyed playing these Rugrats games back in the day, you may want to check this out. I’m having a lot of fun playing them on my Nintendo Switch. I recognize all these games, and they bring back so many memories. I’m having a lot of fun playing them all. I personally loved all the games back in the 90’s. It was exciting to see the Rugrats coming back with some of their games too. These games are some of the best, and always will be. It’s nice to be able to play them all again.
