What Can You Do When It Feels Like God’s Way Is Hard To See?

23 June, 2026 by KatBp Leave a Comment

Walking in faith isn’t always easy. Sometimes, the next step is hard to see. After all, while God might be perfect, we humans certainly are not. No single person has the absolute correct interpretation of God’s will, but we should all strive to better understand it as best as possible to keep living with confidence in our faith and our place as God’s faithful. But how do you do that when that confidence is shaken?

Study Scripture For Direction And Wisdom

A lot of believers have not read scripture. That’s no great sin. After all, for hundreds of years after His living ministry, Christ’s teachings were primarily taught by religious leaders, speaking scripture to the people. But learning how to really sit down and how to study the Bible for yourself can help you expand your mind, engaging with ideas and lessons that you might not have considered before. It can help you develop a stronger understanding of your interpretation of God’s will, which can help you feel a little more assured in your choices and behaviors going forward.

Lean On Your Religious Community

Humans are designed by God to be social creatures, so we should be ready to lean on one another, especially when we’re in a period of uncertainty. When His way seems hard to see, trusted members of your religious community, like pastors, Bible study groups, and faithful friends, can have valuable insights, providing encouragement and wisdom that you might have forgotten or not fully incorporated into your faith yet. We all have our blind spots, and we can all use a little support now and then. Don’t be afraid to ask for it, just as you would want others not to be afraid to ask for your help, too.

Finding New Faithful Perspectives

Sometimes, spiritual growth might mean that we have to turn away from the familiar to find a fresh perspective. This is no knock on the community around us, but sometimes, they might not have the perspective needed to deal with a fresh challenge, trauma, or crisis of faith. The online world can be a great place to find new perspectives, be it interpretations of prophecy, those who specialize in adapting faith to extraordinary circumstances, or even those who might take a more theologically or philosophically explorative take on scripture than a direct reading. Remaining open to biblical insights while staying anchored in God’s Word can help us get both clarity and confidence.

Pray

The answers don’t always lie outside. Sometimes, God can speak to us and lend us the certainty or confidence to keep living in a way that honors Him. Prayer is often the step that gets us there. If you haven’t had the time to really sit or kneel in prayer, then do it. Bring your concerns, your fears, and your questions directly before God. Make sure that you have time to truly listen and draw closer to God. Consistent prayer not only helps us come to those answers while listening for his guidance, but helps us build the resilience and patience often required to get through life’s many trials.

God is always present, even when His path is not immediately obvious. Remember the poem, Footprints in the Sand. He is always with us; we just have to rely on that.
