Home Made Paint

My kids love to paint so I decided to try to make some home made paint for them which would be a lot cheaper than buying paint.

What you’ll need

  • Flour
  • Food coloring
  • Water
  • Some kind of container for the paints (I used a cupcake pan)

The first thing you want to do is put some flour in your container/pan. I used a spoon and started off with one spoonful of flour. You can always add more later if you need to.

Next you can add a little bit of water. You don’t want to add to much at once or it will get really runny. I just add little by little til I get the right consistency. It’s all up to you how you want the consistency to be.

Then you can mix it all up til you get the right consistency that you’d like. I don’t like having the paint to thick or runny so I make it in between them both.

Next you can add the food coloring. You can add what ever colors you want as well as how much you want. I usually do a few drops and it comes out with some great looking colors. Of course my kids don’t really care about the colors, they just want to be able to paint.

Then you can just mix up all the food coloring to get the colors that you’d like. My kids are always mixing the colors up so I don’t even bother trying to get nice colors. They have fun taking them all and mixing them up and then painting.

I hope you enjoy making the paint with your children as much as I did with mine.
