Packing List for Camping

Are you planning on going camping this summer? I love to go camping but sometimes it’s hard to remember what to bring with when you’re going to go camping. This is why I’ve put together a list to help us all remember what to pack when we plan to go camping.

Packing List

  • Sleeping bag Of course you want a sleeping bag when you’re going to bed. You want to stay warm when you’re sleeping.
  • Flashlight or lantern This will come in handy when it gets dark out. You’ll be able to find your way around easier.
  • Pillow That way you’re not laying your head on the hard ground.
  • Footwear. Make sure it’s the right footwear. Maybe bring shoes and boots in case it rains. You’ll always want to be prepared.
  • Tent. You definitely don’t want to forget the tent. You may also want to bring some extra stakes as well as a tarp.
  • Rain Gear This is always great to have just in case it rains. It’s better to be prepared for the weather.
  • Cooler You may want a cooler to keep some of your items cool. If you’re going camping and it’s a long way from home, you may want to buy your cooler items when you get closer to your designation. This way they keep cooler longer.
  • Clothing You don’t want to forget your clothes. Make sure to pack socks, underwear, shirts, sweaters, pants, shorts, pajamas and all other clothing that you may need. Be prepared for the weather, so always bring all types of clothing.
  • Bug Spray Bugs can get really bad when you’re camping. Make sure to pack some bug spray so you can protect yourself from getting bit.
  • Toiletries Depending on where you’re going camping you may want to pack some toiletries. Some of those include: shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, hair brush, sunscreen and a towel.

Of course if you have children going with you on a your camping trip, you’re going to want to pack a few extra items. Snacks and a few toys for the children might be great to bring along with.

One of our must haves is a couple decks of cards. It’s amazing how they get everyone together and having a great time.

BUg spray is a must for us and repellent to because my daughter is allergic to mosquito bites.

Great list. I haven’t been camping in awhile. My baby is too little to go this summer, but we definitely plan on going next summer.

I wish I could convince my husband to go camping! He seems to think that if we are to go camping we have to replace the tent on the list with an RV LOL

Great advice! 🙂 Don’t forget firewood (buy in the local area to prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer) and utensils, pans, etc. for cooking over a fire.

Great list, We also take a bag to hang with our food. We camp with the bears. Love camping, seems like a lot to carry, but once you are there and settled it’s awesome.

Thanks. Camping is a great experience. My daughters haven’t been camping yet, so I’m hoping this year will be the year we get to take them.
