Teriyaki Jerky

15 February, 2016 by KatBp 46 Comments

I recently got a dehydrator for a review from Tribest. I have always wanted some so that I can make up a lot of dried foods. One of the ones I was really looking forward to making, was jerky. My whole family loves jerky, so we were excited to finally make our own recipe. This was our first time making jerky, so we just starting putting ingredients together in hopes that it would turn out great.

DSC_0622

The first thing I did was cut up all the meat. After that I took out all of the ingredients and mixed them together. Next I put the meat slices in the bowl with all the other ingredients. I then covered the bowl with foil and put in the fridge overnight. I would recommend leaving it in the fridge for at least 8-12 hours so that it can soak everything up good.

DSC_0630

The next morning I took the meat out of the fridge. Then I laid them all on the trays that were in the dehydrator. I put no more than three pieces on a tray. After that I put the trays with the meat back in the dehydrator. I put them on 167 degrees for about four hours. I would recommend at least 4-6 hours for the Tribest Sedona Express dehydrator. I love using this dehydrator because it works great in so many ways!

DSC_0631

I was really surprised that it only took four hours for our jerky to get done. With the fast mode on the dehydrator, things cook a lot quicker. It’s a wonderful option for this dehydrator. I love that the jerky was able to cook in such a short time.

The ingredients and directions for this recipe are listed below:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs. Bottom Round Thin Meat
  • 1/2 Cup Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 1/3 Cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/3 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp. Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder

Directions: Mix up all of these ingredients in a bowl. Cut the meat in half or more if you want them smaller pieces. We just cut them all in half and made bigger pieces of jerky. After you have all the ingredients mixed up in a bowl, put the meat in there as well. Make sure all of the pieces are covered so that they absorb all the juices. Next you’re going to want to either put a lid on your bowl or put some foil over it. Once you have it covered you are going to want to put it in the fridge for about 8-12 hours. I put mine in before I went to bed, that way in was in there for a good 8-12 hours. Next you want to pull out the trays from the dehydrator and place your pieces of meat on the tray. Then you can cook for 4-6 hours at about 167 degrees. Since I use the Sedona Express dehydrator, I’m able to choose the fast mode which made our jerky finished by four hours.

I love this dehydrator and I’d highly recommend it to anyone! It cooked the jerky quickly and evenly. The jerky turned out great too! I hope that you enjoy this recipe and also check out the dehydrator if you don’t have one or are looking for a better one.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs. Bottom Round Thin Meat
  • 1/2 Cup Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1 tsp. Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder
Instructions
  1. Mix up all of these ingredients in a bowl. Cut the meat in half or more if you want them smaller pieces. We just cut them all in half and made bigger pieces of jerky. Teriyaki is the best flavor of jerky, in my opinion. We make it all the time.

I have never had teriyaki jerky but if it’s anything like teriyaki meat that is not dried out I know I would love this. Teriyaki is probably one of my favorite ways to cook food.

This jerky sounds amazing. I love jerky but it’s rather expensive fr what it is. I think making your own is better. Plus, it doesn’t have a ton of nasty preservatives.
