How to Introduce Mindfulness to Kids With Zafooz

14 June, 2019 by KatBp 46 Comments

We have all experienced our kids having a tantrum or meltdown, am I right?! My kids still have them every now and than, and there really isn’t a whole lot we can do about that, except be there for them and try to help them through it. Nobody wants to go through this, but it just happens. Kids don’t always know how to try to stay calm in certain situations. This is why I think it’s extremely important that we try to teach them mindfulness.

Now that my daughters are out of school for the summer, I know that I’m going to often here those dreadful words “I’m bored”. There is always something to do for kids, but we always seem to hear those words anyway. My daughters are in swim lessons and summer school this year, so that keeps them busy. They’re only there for a few hours though, so once they get home they usually find something to do. I am happy to introduce Zafooz because these products can help teach kids more about mindfulness and meditation.

About Mindfulness:

Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Mindfulness practices help to relieve pressures as children develop and life grows more challenging. Peer pressures, home and school pressure can be very stressful on young people. For many children, mindfulness practices may offer relief in difficult times. Giving them a sense of peace in the present moment instead of worry.

About Zafooz:

The zafoo cushion is a relatable way to introduce mindfulness practices to children. A cushion and breathing buddy in one, the zafoo is a fun and functional combination of a meditation cushion with a plush animal. All zafooz have sweet, peaceful faces to remind children that it is safe to slow down and go within.

About Mindful Monkey:

This Zafooz is ideal for the aware, independent thinker or curious child. One who enjoys having fun with others but craves their alone time too. This child may have no problem sitting for a brain break, connecting to their breath and quieting their body and mind.

Lotus Ladybug:

This Zafooz is ideal for the high spirited, highly sensitive child. The child who may tend to take on others energy along with his/her own. Like the Lotus this Zafooz may remind him/her that they should always be themselves no matter what their environment they come from.

Practicing Mindfulness With Your Children:

To start by practicing mindfulness, you can have your child take their Zafooz and find a place to sit. They’re going to want to sit on them and relax. By sitting on these, they’re going to learn more about mindfulness and how to stay more calm and relaxed. Zafooz has some great exercises to do with your children on their website.

I love being able to practice some of these daily because they’re extremely helpful. I think it’s great to be able to sit your kids down and try out some of these great exercises. They really do work! My kids can become really emotional, so having these Zafooz to help them has been great. Whenever they have a meltdown or are maybe just feeling down, we pull out the Zafooz and start doing some exercises. They love it!

From now until July 22nd, 2019, you can save 15% off on your Zafooz purchase. Just use the promo code breatheBhappy when checking out.

Do you enjoy practicing mindfulness with your children?

I love this idea. Mindfulness can really help keep anyone centered and in the moment. I think the sooner a child learns how to be that way, the better.
