My daughters have been asking for a hoverboard for some time now. Ever since they first heard about them, they have always wanted one. I have been very interested in them as well. They seem like they would be a lot of fun, especially for kids. I’ve seen so many videos of others trying out hoverboards and they look like a lot of fun. I don’t know if you have seen some of the videos with adults trying out hoverboards, but they’re hilarious. I figured it was about time my family was finally able to try one out too. Did you know that the Razor brand makes hoverboards too?! I didn’t know this til recently. I just always remember being younger and having their scooters. It’s great to see a Razor Hoverboard too!
I was able to get the Razor Black Label Hovertrax Hoverboard for my daughters. My youngest has actually tried out a hoverboard before, but nobody else had until we got this one. Tesla (my youngest) does an amazing job on the hoverboard. She has had a lot of practice and she does a great job on it. It’s amazing to see how quick kids can learn too.

Personalize It
One neat thing about this Razor Hoverboard, is that you can personalize it the way you’d like. This hoverboard comes with three sets of colored grip tape so that you can make it your own. You can switch them up whenever you want. It’s nice to be able to switch them to the way you’d like them. We love switching them all the time. It’s a lot of fun to have them be changed whenever you want. Sometimes you may just be in the mood for different patterns and colors, so that’s a great option with this hoverboard.
Check out the LED light up wheel hubs! You’ll be able to see you coming from a ways away with this hoverboard. This makes it even easier for those of you who love to take them out in the dark. Everyone will easily be able to spot you then. They change multiple colors too. They will flash through different colors while the Razor Hoverboard is on.
This hoverboard comes with a rechargeable battery pack that provides up to 40 minutes of fun! This means you can use the hoverboard for around 40 minutes before you’ll want to recharge it again. That gives you plenty of time to take it for a spin. It also has a power of speeds up to 9mph and it can hold riders up to 176 lbs.
Ride In Your Socks
Tesla does not like to ride the hoverboard with shoes because she says it’s a lot easier to control while you are in your socks. I have to agree with her on this as well. It is much easier to ride while you’re in just your socks or no socks at all. You can ride with your shoes on, but it may be harder to handle. We have been practicing a lot on the hoverboard and we personally like wearing our socks while we’re on it. It may be different for many of you, but we prefer it this way, because for us, it’s a lot easier without shoes. Of course I’d still recommend shoes when you’re outside because you don’t want to get hurt. It just may be harder in shoes, but you can master that as well. All it takes is some practice.
Ride Indoors At First
If you’re just learning to ride a hoverboard, it might be best to stay indoors. It can be a lot easier to master inside, and if you keep falling it won’t hurt as much as it would if you were outside. If you’re practicing outdoors, especially on the blacktop, it is probably going to hurt when you fall down. You probably will fall down a lot at first too.
Wear A Helmet
I recommend wearing a helmet, especially if it is your first time riding on a hoverboard. It can be tricky to master and it does take time. Since you do tend to fall down a lot when you’re first starting out, a helmet could help protect you. It’s always best to be safe.
Moving Forwards and Backwards
When you’re wanting to move forward, you want to lean forward just slightly. Don’t move to much or you may end up going in a direction you didn’t want to go. Most of your movements should be in your ankles. Learn to control with just your ankles. If you move around to much you’re not going to get to where you want.
Turning
When you are wanting to turn around, you want to use your toes. To go to the right you want to use your left toes, and to go to the left you want to use your right toes. Push with the opposite foot of the direction you’re going. For example, if you want to go left, you want to push with your right toes. It can take some time to get use to this, but you’ll get the hang of it.
Stopping
Trying to stop the Razor Hoverboard is a little more difficult. Just be prepared to possibly fall off. This has happened a lot with us until we got use to it. Don’t ever jump off the hoverboard either. This could result in you getting hurt or injured. Use your dominant foot and put the weight on that foot. Then use your other foot to step down off of it. It can be a bit of a challenge to master this, but you’ll get it in time.
Sit On It
Sitting on it can actually be a lot of fun. It can help you control it more too. You still need the balance when you’re sitting on it. This may be easier to start off by sitting on it as well. You may want to start off sitting on it until you master it more. Then start to stand up on the hoverboard. You can always start by just standing on it right away, but sitting on it can be fun too.
Practice
There is a lot to learn when you’re going on a hoverboard for the first time. The biggest thing is to practice, practice, practice! The more you practice, the better you will be at it.
Another great thing about this hoverboard, is that it has EverBalance technology and optional training mode, which help you to learn at your own speed. The training mode is great for those who are just starting out. It will help you more with your balance because it goes at a slower speed. This is what I prefer when riding on the hoverboard. Once you get the hang of it, you can go back to the regular mode.
My family has enjoyed using the Razor Hoverboard, and we use it every day. My kids especially love to ride around the house on the carpet. It gets the kids out more and active even if they’re just riding it. I love it because it keeps them entertained and away from electronics. It has been great for my whole family.

Razor makes quality products so I am sure this is an awesome hoverboard. I imagine there is a learning curve so riding indoors is key at first!

My daughter has a hoverboard from razor and loves it. She rides on it daily!

I tried riding a hoverboard once. ONCE. Your daughter is already doing far, far better than I did. LOL
Right! I’m the same haha. I’m not to good at it yet.
These are great tips. We got our kids a hoverboard this year for Christmas and I’m a little nervous about them trying them out. I like the option of them sitting on it first.
They are a lot of fun once you get use to them. I’m sure they’ll do great and love it.
I’ve always wanted to try one of these ! I honestly would probably break my neck I’m so clumsy. I’d need to be wearing a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and probably have a pillow wrapped around my waist. Awesome tips tho 🙂
I feel the same haha. I didn’t do to bad at first. I’m still learning myself.
These things scare me and fascinate me all at the same time! I like the sitting on it idea lol!
Right! I feel the same haha.

I’ve never used a hover board and would like to learn. Really do.
