I bet there are a lot of us who enjoy great music, myself included. I don’t know what I’d do without music. It’s a part of my life and has been since I was little. If you love music, you may know who Benjy Grinberg is. If not, he’s the founder of Rostrum Records. He has even worked with other artist such as Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
Benjy Grinberg
Grinberg was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from college, he moved to New York. Three months after moving to NYC, Grinberg got his official start in music as Antonio “LA” Reid’s assistant. He is now located in Los Angeles, CA. Over the course of the last seventeen years Rostrum has sold millions of albums and tens of millions of singles. He is constantly discovering and embracing new ways for artists to get their music out and build lasting relationships with fans. Rostrum’s artists have been nominated for a combined total of eleven Grammy Awards.
His label was named one of Vibe magazine’s “Top 5 Labels to Watch in 2012” and XXL magazine’s “Top Rising Indie Label in 2011”. He was also named #23 on The Source magazine’s annual Power 30 list in its September 2011 issue. In 2013, Grinberg was named one of Billboard’s “40 under 40”. He is also a voting member of the Grammys.
Benjy Grinberg Scholarship
Something I learned that I thought was wonderful, was that he founded the Benjy Grinberg Scholarship in hopes of helping those seeking higher education reach their educational and career goals. This $1,000 scholarship is designed to relieve some of the financial burden of continuing education. It will be awarded to a current college student or high school senior who has been accepted into a college or university. All you have to do is write a 750-word essay that answers this question: What is a passion or hobby of yours, and what role does it play in your educational journey? Isn’t that wonderful?! It’s great to hear about others helping others out like this.
Benjy Grinberg has his It’s Show Business, which is a podcast where comedian Latif Tayour talks money, investing, and show business with comedians, musicians, and entertainment professionals. You can join their insider conversations and maybe get inspired as they break down the business of show. Every week a new guest drops in to share behind the scenes experiences and goals. Patrons get tickets to live shows, can participate in Q&A’s, and can vote on which guests we should book! At 50 patrons they will even start a bonus episode just for you!
