California Delicious Review

Sometimes I have the hardest time trying to figure out what to get someone as a gift. For some reason men seem to be really hard for me to buy gifts for. Christmas is coming real soon so it’s time to get ready to get some gifts. Nothing is better than a nice gift basket from California Delicious. Even men can enjoy these gift baskets.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to review a gift basket from California Delicious. They have a lot of different baskets to choose from. I had the hardest time picking out one for review. After looking around for a while I decided to go with the Golden Delights Gourmet Gift Basket.

The basket was very beautifully woven and came with cheese straws, biscotti, Ghirardelli milk and caramel squares, chocolate truffle hot cocoa mix,  flatbread crisps, chocolate truffles, chocolate chip cookies, almonds, butter toffee pretzels, Monterey jack cheese, and a wood handled cheese knife.

I actually tried the flatbread crisps with the monterey jack gourmet cheese spread. I thought it was very good. The crisps are a European style cracker backed with olive oil, seal salt and grated Parmesan. I could eat those all by themselves without the cheese because they were so good. The cheese just gives it more flavor. They’re very crispy, salty and simply delicious. It’s almost like bread but hard and crispy bread. The cheese is very smooth and good as well. If you love monterey jack cheese then you’ll love the cheese spread. It tastes just the same except for it being a spread and not a block of cheese.

The butter toffee pretzels were my favorite item from this gift basket. I love toffee so I was excited to try out these pretzels. I’m not much of a pretzel fan, but since they were covered in butter toffee I thought I’d give them a try. To my surprise these were so amazing! If you’ve ever had toffee, then you know it’s very hard but it’s also very sweet. As you also know, pretzels are very salty. That means this delicious treat was sweet and salty. I could eat the whole bag in one sitting if I let myself. That’s how good it was.

I also really love biscotti. It’s a very hard food but so good. I’ve never tried it with chocolate before but I’m glad I was able to try out this Viva Sonoma Biscotti. This is actually almond biscotti with roasted nuts and a touch of orange dipped in dark bittersweet guittard chocolate. This was very crunchy and you could taste a small amount of orange and the chocolate of course. Normally I don’t like the taste of orange and chocolate but this was very good. If you love biscotti and chocolate, than this is a must try.

The classic chocolate chip salted caramel cookies have dark chocolate, rich caramel and sea salt all in to one cookie. They’re chocolaty and crunchy/crispy cookies. I thought they were very good too. I’m not a fan of dark chocolate but I did really like these cookies. They were very different yet very tasty too.

The cheese straws were very different. I’ve never had these before. If you enjoy aged cheddar than this would be a great product for you. They were very cheesy and actually they were not that bad. At first I didn’t care much for them but after eating them a bit they were not so bad. I guess I’m not much of a cheese fan to begin with but if you love cheese you’ll probably love these.

I’ve always loved almonds so when I got to try these I was very excited. They’re honey cinnamon almonds. I have tried cinnamon dusted almonds before but never honey cinnamon. These were very good. You could taste the honey and cinnamon and it was the perfect amount. If you love almonds then I would recommend you try these. They’re very good!

If you love the taste of pure chocolate than you’re going to love these truffles. They’re rich chocolate raspberry truffles. They were very rich in chocolate. Personally I didn’t care much for these but only because I’m not a fan of plain chocolate. I’m sure if you’re a chocolate lover than you will love these.

If you have never tried Ghiradelli chocolate than I think you’re really missing out. These were extremely delicious. They were rich chocolate with milk and caramel. I love chocolate with caramel inside so it was no surprise when I bit in to one of these and loved it.

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? I’ve always loved all types of hot chocolate. This was the first time I’ve had chocolate truffle hot chocolate before. I think I may have added a little too much water to mine but it was still very good. My daughter who is four years old really loved it.

This was a wonderful basket and I love all the items that came with it. There were a couple that were not as good as I hoped but overall I still love this basket. California Delicious has a lot of baskets to choose from. I’m sure you’ll be able to choose one for a special person in your life and they’re going to love it.
