Encourage Kids To Be Environmental Stewards

With Earth Day coming up I always encourage my kids to help out the environment. It is so important for my family to be able to help out the environment in any way that we can. We love to protect our earth. Each Earth Day we usually go out and pick up trash. Teaching your kids to be environmental stewards can be truly rewarding.

Ways You Can Help Protect Earth

Plant a Tree

If you have the space, you can always plant a tree. This will help by providing food and oxygen. They even help clean the air and save energy too. Another great thing about trees, is that they cool things down. They’re great for shade on a hot sunny day. Another great tree to plant, are fruit trees. Not only can this help the environment, but  you’re getting food from it too. My family has a lot of trees around our yard, and we love it.

Pick Up Trash

Whenever you see trash, make sure to pick it up. For Earth Day you can even go around and start picking up garbage. My daughters and I love to do this on Earth Day too. It is one of the things we usually do, but we do this more than just on Earth Day too. If we see trash, we usually pick it up.

Recycle

My family is all about recycling. We recycle everything that we can. If it is recyclable, we make sure to put it in our recycling bins. We also love to use items to make crafts so that they’re not ending up in the garbage. Recycling is a great way to help kids become environmental stewards too.

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

My family uses reusable water bottles all the time. We love being able to keep filling them up with water whenever we need it. It is also great for the environment. The Zak water bottles are perfect for this. They have new ones that they just came out with called the Zak Planeterra water bottles. These are even better for the environment. You’ll want to get your hands on some of these.

Ride Your Bike or Walk

If you can ride your bike or walk somewhere instead of driving your vehicle, it can help out Earth a lot. My daughters and I love to take bike rides in the summer to their grandparents house. We do that a lot instead of driving.

Use Reusable Shopping Bags

Buy some reusable shopping bags if you don’t have any and start using those while you’re shopping. Some stores that are local to us don’t have bags at all, so you have to bring your own bags.

The Planet Zak Project

There is so much that you can do to help save Earth. Use these three steps to help come up with some fun ideas for the family. Make sure to learn, practice and then participate. There is a lot that you can learn about to help keep our Earth clean. I learn new things all the time, especially when it comes closer to Earth Day. It’s a great way to help kids become environmental stewards. Make sure you start practices some of these as well. One great way to start practicing, so to start using reusable products, like the Zak Planeterra water bottles. You can keep washing and reusing these bottles over and over again. That way you are saving a lot of plastic that may end up in landfills. Once you have done these first couple steps, the next is to get right in and start participating. You may even find a great volunteer group to support.

Planeterra: Grounded in the Future

To keep our planet looking beautiful for years to come, we can’t let our landfills continue to expand. That’s where the Planeterra line comes in: made with revolutionary plastic material, it breaks down quickly instead of sitting in the landfill for a lifetime. The process is completely toxin-free, leaving behind only gases and trace amounts of water and biomass, and takes a brief three to five years under traditional conditions. And as easy as it is to return to the earth, this eco-friendly plastic still has a long lifespan. With no loss of durability or shelf life, you can use and reuse Planeterra products as part of your daily routine—it’s a small change that can make a big impact towards leaving the planet in good shape for future generations.

  • Made with reusable plastic
  • Breaks down under traditional landfill conditions, toxin-free, within 3-5 years
  • BPA free – committed to safety
  • Dishwasher and microwave safe

Earth Day Cleanup

Zak water bottles are perfect for using during Earth Day cleanup too. My daughters and I enjoy going on bike rides and walks when it’s nice out. Each year on Earth Day we also love to help clean up trash, plant trees or something that can help with the environment. Since we do get thirsty a lot when we’re doing work like this, we now can enjoy bringing our Zak Designs Planeterra water bottles with.

Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics

Zak has a partnership with Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. Watch the video above to learn more about that. Kids can really help make a difference. Teach them to be environmental stewards while they’re young. My daughters have always been taught the importance of Earth. We want to be able to educate them and make sure they know how to help keep the environment safe.

Zak Planeterra Water Bottles

If you haven’t already, make sure to switch to reusable water bottles. Zak Planeterra water bottles are a great choice. My daughters and I use ours all the time. They especially love bringing them with when we go on bike rides or walks. We do that a lot during the summer, so these are going to get a lot of use out of them. It’s also nice that they come in many different colors. My daughters were lucky enough to get their favorite colors, which are pink and white. I’m glad to see more companies out there like this that are making products more environmentally friendly. What I really love about these water bottles, is that they will break down under traditional landfill conditions. I honestly never thought I’d see that in a water bottle. It is truly amazing!

Make sure this Earth Day you take your family out and do something great for the environment. I hope that you’re able to choose something that can truly help out our Earth. Helping encourage your kids to become environmental stewards can be a reward itself. Make great choices and your kids will follow. It’s amazing how much they can learn from us.

I agree 100%. in our home, it may be a little thing, but now that my teen cleans his room every so often, he knows to make his own bag for recycling! I am so proud!

Love this! I remember as a child that my brother and I would go out and pick up trash as a “fun activity”. I hope to instill that in my girls as well!

I love that my kids are far more educated on this subject than I was at their age. They love doing things that are better for the environment. Even my youngest does not like to use disposable plastic bottles.
