Firehouse Subs Review

I was recently provided with the opportunity to review one of the Firehouse Subs restaurants. This was my first time hearing about this place. I was very interested so I did a little research and checked out the place online. Everything looked very delicious so I knew I had to say yes to the opportunity.

I took one of my friends and my two daughters along to check out Firehouse Subs. The closest one to us was in Maplewood, MN. It was about an hour drive but I didn’t mind the drive since it looked like such a great place to go. I figured we could find other things to do along the way as well.

Once we arrived I asked for Ron Harris. He grabbed two tables and put them together for us and even wiped off the tables. After we all sat down he gave us some brief information about himself and Firehouse Subs. I found it very interesting. One thing that really stood out to me was that they have donated so much to different charities and all around the help they give others is unbelievable. It’s always great to hear of places donating to charities. Another thing I had noticed was how he interacted with all the customers. Before I asked for Ron I saw that he was walking around talking with the customers. That’s not something I normally see. That is great customer service. I think it’s great that he would talk with the customers.

We were all given cups so we could get the drinks we wanted. I love the new coke machines they have. I think they’re really neat and so much easier to handle then the regular soda machines they have in some restaurants. With these new coke machines you’re able to use a touch screen to decide what type of drink you want and they have so many different drinks to choose from. After everyone got their drinks we all sat down and Ron had offered us a few different subs to try.

We were given the King’s Hawaiian Pork and Slaw Sandwich, Hook & Ladder, Italian and the New York Steamer. All of the sandwiches looked absolutely delicious. My youngest daughter Tesla is allergic to milk as some of you may already know. I told them about that and they were nice enough to bring out a ham sandwich without cheese. I thought that was very thoughtful of them.

This is the  King’s Hawaiian Pork and Slaw Sandwich. This sandwich is actually available for a limited time only. It’s got a 12 hour pit smoked pulled pork, Wisconsin pepper jack cheese, and fresh Hawaiian coleslaw piled high on a toasted king’s Hawaiian bread. I have to say that I wasn’t to sure that if I would like this sandwich or not. Coleslaw on a sandwich sounded really odd to me. To my surprise I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was actually really delicious. I would definitely order one of these again. One of my friends was with me when we tried out the sandwiches and she hates coleslaw but tried the sandwich anyway. To her surprise she also loved it. To me that means it’s a really great sandwich. To take something someone hates and put it on a sandwich and make them love it is really amazing.

This sandwich is the Hook & Ladder. It has smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham and melted Monterey jack. This was probably my favorite sandwich out of all of them. I think I loved this one the most because it was like a regular sandwich I would normally make but so much better. The whole entire sandwich tasted so great and I really love the bread they use. It’s got this nice crispy taste to it that makes it so wonderful.

This would be the Italian sandwich. It has Genoa salami, pepperoni, ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing and seasonings. This was another one of my favorite sandwiches. I actually had leftovers from all of the sandwiches so I decided to let my husband try them when he got home and he absolutely loved this sandwich. My husband and I would definitely order this sub the next time I go to Firehouse Subs. I can’t wait to bring my husband with next time. I know he’s going to love it.

This is the New York Steamer. It has corned beef brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo and Italian dressing.  This was a good sandwich as well. It was way better than I had expected. My friend that came with me also doesn’t like corned beef but to her surprise she loved this sandwich. This was one of her favorite sandwiches out of the four. I’m not much of a corned beef fan myself either but I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was very good.

As you can tell my daughters were enjoying the food as well. My daughter Tesla (on the left) ate all of her sandwich. She’s the one that has dairy allergies so they made her the ham sandwich without cheese. You can tell she really enjoyed it. Mercades (on the right) is very picky so it’s hard to get her to try anything. She doesn’t really eat much meat but she does love subs so she ate a little bit.

I would definitely recommend Firehouse Subs to anyone. I had such an amazing experience and the food was very good. This is officially my new favorite place for sub sandwiches. I can’t wait to take some of my friends and family to this restaurant.

All of those subs look so delicious and the restaurant looks clean and inviting! I, too, like the Coke machines that let you mix in flavors. There is a never ending variety of what you could get each time you go. The fact that they donate to charities makes them 5-star in my book even if they are just a sub restaurant. Thanks for the review!
