Ice Castles

29 January, 2018 by KatBp 78 Comments

I’m not usually the biggest fan of Winter because of how cold it is, but my family enjoys being outside in Winter. I do love the snow though. It’s to bad it couldn’t snow when it’s warm out, than I could enjoy it more. Either way, there are so many fun activities to do with your family in Winter. One of our favorites is going sledding and building snowmen. There is one fun place we love visiting during Winter, and that is the Ice Castles. Have any of you been able to enjoy going to the Ice Castles yet? My family and I have been to a couple different Ice Castles a few times, and we have enjoyed all of them.

The Ice Castles are literally built by hand. They grow more than 5,000 icicles each day that they harvest and sculpt together. It’s amazing to see all the work they put in to these Ice Castles. You can tell it takes a lot of time and dedication to make them. I couldn’t imagine how much work it would be. Everyone who helped out did such an amazing job. It’s such a beautiful site to see.

One of my favorite parts from the Ice Castles, was the fountain. It was neat to see the water shooting out from the ice. One really awesome thing about it, was that you could see all the colors. It’s harder to see in this photo, but you can see just a small hint of purple in the water if you look closely in the photo above.

My daughters had a lot of fun going through all the tunnel areas. It was nice that they made them with plenty of space so that everyone can get through. Some of them were more tight spaces, but they were a lot of fun. Being able to be there at night is the best because of all the beautiful colors. Here with the photo above, you can see some of the blue color.

Above you’ll see one of the tunnels I mentioned about being tighter. It’s still very easy to access through, just a smaller space than some of the others. These tunnels are so much fun to go through and see all the beautiful pieces of ice!

Even Olaf was there! Don’t mind my daughters in this picture haha! Mercades was trying to put her hand around Tesla, but Tesla didn’t want it. It’s always fun seeing Olaf there! We saw him last year as well. My kids always love to see him.

Seeing all the colors around the ice was probably my favorite part. It makes it so much more magical when you see all the lights. I highly recommend going when it’s darker out so that you can see all the beautiful colors. It’s harder to see when it’s light out.

I would highly recommend going to the Ice Castles if you have never been. If you’ve been, I’m sure you know how amazing the experience is too. It’s so nice to be able to be inside and see all the neat ice build from workers. They did such an amazing job on this.

There are certain days where you can meet the Enchanted Frozen Sisters and take a photo with them as you enter their frozen home. They also have fire performances. You can enjoy a high energy fire show at the Ice Castles! They will amaze you with a versatile and unique show using many different manipulation props including fire-breathing, spinning, hula, and more.

How many of you have been to the Ice Castles before? I’d love to hear about your experiences.
