Keeping Foods Fresher With Rubbermaid FreshWorks

24 April, 2017 by KatBp 88 Comments

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Rubbermaid. The opinions are all 100% my own.

I’m so excited for summer. That means my girls will be off school and I’ll get to spend more time with them since they’ll be on summer break. It also means beautiful warm weather! Another one of my favorite things about summer, is all the fresh produce. This is the best time of year to start getting some good produce from the stores, or having your own produce. I’m always excited for summer, and since I just recently moved, that means I finally get to have my garden again!

With having my own garden, that means I’m going to need a lot of space in my fridge. I’ll need some nice containers to put all that produce in. I know for sure we’re going to have carrots because my daughters love pulling those out of the ground and eating them. My family loves fruits and vegetables, so a garden is what we need this summer. Containers I usually get don’t keep the food fresh long enough. Luckily for me I was able try out these Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers and they’re amazing!

I always have fruit and vegetables at home, so I decided to put in some pineapple and grapes in the containers to see how well those would hold up. I know grapes don’t always hold up to long for me. They seem to get squishy after a while. I hate it when fruits don’t last long. Usually with my vegetables, they’ll last longer then the fruit.

These containers are very nice for putting your produce in. I have noticed that the fruit has been lasting longer in these containers, so that’s a huge plus. These containers use patented  FreshVentTM technology to keep produce fresher up to 80%* longer than traditional produce packaging. FreshVent regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide to create the optimal environment so produce stays nearly as fresh as the day it was picked, while the CrispTrayTM helps reduce moisture and spoilage. Since produce usually does go to waste within days, you won’t have to worry about that with these. FreshWorks containers expand the life so that they’ll stay fresher longer and you can still eat it before it goes to waste.

You can even save more money this way. Think of all the food you would have wasted before, which results in wasting money. With these containers keeping produce fresher longer, you shouldn’t have any problems with wasted foods. Americans waste $24 billion worth of produce every year, which is the equivalent of $192 per household.** This will help a lot with keeping produce from being wasted.

These containers are very simple to use. You can easily move your produce from the store packaging and into the FreshWorks containers before refrigerating to maintain freshness for up to 80% longer. The lid filter lasts a lifetime, no replacements needed.

  • Microwave and top shelf dishwasher safe, BPA-free.
  • Available in three sizes to hold all types of produce:
    • Small (2.5 Cups): Ideal for small berries.
    • Medium (6.3 Cups): Perfect for strawberries.
    • Large (17.3 Cups): Optimal for leafy greens.

The FreshVent filter lasts the lifetime of the container, with no replacements needed. This product is dishwasher safe, so you don’t have to worry about ruing them if you put them in the dishwasher. I love that because I’ve placed containers in the dishwasher before and sometimes the lids end up not fitting right after doing that. They’re BPA free as well. The crisp tray (shown above) elevates produce away from moisture and promotes proper airflow to help prevent spoilage.

I’m so happy to have these containers now. I was looking recently for some containers to store some of my produce in, so I’m glad I was able to try the Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers. They have been such a great container to have for my produce. I love how much longer the produce stays fresh in these containers. They work wonders.

After being able to use these products more often, I’ve definitely noticed how much longer my produce is staying fresh in the fridge. Now I’ll be able to store my fruit and vegetables this summer in these containers and still be able to eat them all week-long without worrying that they’ll go bad. I sure do love these containers!

How would you like a 3-piece set like the ones I have featured? Now you can enter to win a pack of your own. All you have to do is enter below. This is only open to the U.S. Good luck to all of you. Even if you don’t win, you can check out their website and order them too!

Sometimes I don’t buy fruit just because I know most of it is going to go bad before we eat it and I’ll have wasted money. I think I need to get myself some of these so I can buy fruit again.

Trying to extend the life of produce and other foods to keep them fresh longer is so important because food is so expensive and even loses nutritional value if it’s not stored properly. Good to know that are storage containers like these to help.
