One of the most important things to me, is to make sure that my children are safe. I’ve always made sure that I make my home safe enough for my children. I put things out of reach that I know they should not be getting into. I would never want my kids to ever get a hold of something that is dangerous or even poisonous to them or to anyone. I think it’s an important topic for many.
I’m sure that you have all heard about the situations where kids have been getting a hold of the laundry pods. My laundry items were always put away safely where my kids couldn’t get to them. I never thought about kids trying to eat laundry Pods until I heard about it all over the internet and I believe I may have seen it on the news as well. It’s very important that you put these items out of reach of children so that they’re not going to think they can play with or eat them. This is extremely dangerous to them.
Tide PODS recently debuted a new ad campaign featuring the Child-Guard on their package. Child-Guard is the first ever child-resistant closure system designed specifically for products that use flexible packaging. I think this was a brilliant idea, because of all the hype about kids getting into these pods. This zipper is a lot more difficult to open than your average ones that you’ve normally used. This makes it harder for children to get them open, which is a great thing. This way if a kid accidentally gets into them, they will have a harder time getting them open, and it gives parents more of a chance to catch them with it.
Presto Products Company is the creator of Child-Guard. They’re a market leader in the private label and flexible packaging industries. You’ll see the red zipper that moves around on the bag. You can’t just move it back and forth to get this to open up the bag. That would make things too easy for children to get the package open.
Instead, you have to make sure to align the notch, then you push down and pull it. This is the way you’re going to get this open. Most kids are going to think it’s like a normal zipper where you just hold on to the zipper part and pull it. That’s not the case here, which is a such a great thing. I would hate to see any more kids get harmed from these products.
I think that Child-Guard is important to everyone, especially parents. Just last year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received more than 1.3 million calls involving poison exposure for children. This Child-Guard zipper is something I feel needs to be brought up all over the world. It would be nice to have more safe products like this on poisonous products so that kids are not getting into them.
What can you do to help? That’s easy, you just spread the word to others. They need to hear from you in order for more of these Child-Guard products to be on more household brands. You can do some of the following to help out:

Nobody wants their children to accidentally get into something they shouldn’t, so these zippers are designed in a way that makes it harder for children to open.

The safeguards are good, but sometimes those of us without kids need extra patience to open our products. I’d like both version available.
I love this idea because I have kids. Being able to have something like this with kids around is great.
This is the best idea. While my daughter is old enough to understand the dangers, for younger kids this is a must!

These make doing laundry so easy. I never have to worry about adding to much detergent. This is a great way to child proof the bag.

I like the ideas of both versions too because for older people it’s hard to get them open. I don’t use the pods because of the expense but have a few times and like the option of using them when travelling.

We use these pods for laundry and for our dishwasher, I am glad to see that they are thinking about making them safer for kids. It is scary to think that kids have ingested these pods. yikes!!! Love this idea and will be looking for them in our store.

Thank goodness for these products! I was lucky because my kids never really got into anything they weren’t supposed to, but I know many of my kid’s friends had close calls!

i see these all the time at publix. the part of the aisle where they are located always smells so good. lol. i love the safeguards. you can never be to careful.

Child safety is one of my main concerns, too. It is devastating to hear of all of the injuries that have come from something that was created to make our lives easier. Happy to hear that they’ve come up to a solution!
