Making Traveling With Kids Easier

We all know that it can be tough traveling with children. Whether it’s a long drive or a long plane ride, it’s hard to keep the kids entertained. The longest I have traveled with my kids is 6 hours in a car, but that’s when I had my first child and she was just a few months old, otherwise it would be a 3 hour drive with my two daughters. It’s very hard to keep them entertained while they have to sit in the car for so long. Below are a few tips to keep your kids busy while traveling.

1. Make sure to pack your child’s stuff yourself or at least make sure you check to see what they have packed. You never know what they may pack that they shouldn’t have or maybe it’s something way to heavy.

2. Pack some games and toys. Kids are going to get bored riding in a car or plane for so long. They’re going to need some activities to keep them busy. Make sure to have lots of great activities planned to keep them entertained.

3. Pack snacks but make sure they’re not sweets or anything loaded with sugar. You don’t want your kids to get a sugar rush when you’re in the middle of something, especially if you’re out in the city.

4. Take your time. When you’re out traveling, kids love to look at everything. Make sure to take your time and let them look around. This might be a new and exciting thing for them and they want to see everything.

5. Be prepared for the weather. You never know what the weather is going to be like, so make sure to pack all types of clothing. It may get to cold or hot, so make sure to pack comfortable clothing for all types of weather. You just never know what’s going to happen.

6. Don’t forget baby supplies. If you’ve got little ones you don’t want to forget to grab lots of diapers, wipes, extra clothing, bottles or anything else your little ones may need.

7. Medicine. If your child needs medicine, make sure to pack for each day you plan to be gone as well as extra just in case you’re gone longer. This could save a lot of stress later.

8. Book everything ahead of time. Make sure you have all plans booked before you travel. This helps out a great deal so you’re not having to find something to do while you’re there.

These are just a few tips I have for traveling with children. I’m sure we can all think of a lot more tips but these were the main ones I wanted to talk about. I hope this list helps you when you decide to take your kids traveling.

I need to print this out & put it on the refrigerator. We’ve never traveled more than a couple hrs with three kids, but it still sends me to that crazy place.

Awesome tips! Especially about the sugar. You don’t want them bouncing off walls or really antsy during the whole thing.
