Movie #1 is Snow Day

25 January, 2024 by KatBp 22 Comments

Our first movie from our movie list to watch together as a family, is Snow Day. If you want to see what other movies are on our list, head over HERE to see the entire list. Everyone was really excited to see this one. I have already seen it, but it was one I thought my daughters would really enjoy. This has been on their own list of movies they wanted to watch, so it was perfect. It was even snowing on the day we watched it, so this was great!

About Snow Day

When an entire town in upstate New York is closed down by an unexpected snowfall, a “snow day” begins when a group of elementary school kids, led by Natalie Brandston, try to ensure that the schools stay closed by stopping a mechanical snowplow driver by trying to hijack his plow truck. Meanwhile, Natalie’s big brother Hal is using this day to try to win the affections of Claire Bonner, the most popular girl in his high school, while Hal and Natalie’s father Tom, a TV meteorologist, faces off against a rival meteorologist for weather coverage of the day’s events.

We have decided we also want to have snacks and drinks with each movie. So far we have decided to make a charcuterie board as long as we can come up with enough snacks to go along with each movie. Since this one had a lot to do with snow, we went with some snow themed snacks and drinks. We had hot cocoa for drinks because many of the times when it’s cold out, we always have hot cocoa to warm up. We then came up with some ideas for snow snacks, which were donuts, marshmallows, snowball cookies and we even made snowflake tortilla chips.

My daughter Tesla even made slideshows for all of these movies. I thought she did a wonderful job with these. For Snow Day, she did a fun short slide of the cover of the movie and did some quotes to go along with it. “Roads are closed” “Schools out” and Rules were meant to be frozen” were some of the ones she chose.

If you have never seen Snow Day, I highly recommend it. If you have kids, it is a great movie to watch together with them. My daughters really enjoyed this movie. They actually came out with a newer one too. We plan to see the new one as well. My daughters enjoyed the older version so much, we want to see the new one too. You can grab this movie off AMAZON if you enjoyed it.

Stay tuned for movie #2!

I’ve never seen this movie, though it’s been on my list to watch for a very long time. I like the idea of a charcuterie board for movie snacks. Normally we have a handful of different snacks and everyone just gets a bowl to put them in (not very fun lol). Great movie idea!

I’ve actually never heard of this movie, but I would love to see it! My kids are older now, but have such great memories of listening to the radio every winter morning, hoping for a snow day. Even now, my high schooler still gets excited when her bus is cancelled! I’ll have to check out this movie for sure!
