Moving plans? Know Which are the Basic Products to Live Comfortably.

Comfortable living essentials list

If your plans are to move out of your parents’ house, this list of comfortable living essentials will be a great help for the first few weeks or even a few months.

Planning a move and starting a new life from scratch is a plan that appeals to many, but few know all that is involved in moving out of a parent’s home to live under their own rules. In some cases, the new home has the basics to live comfortably, at least for the first few weeks; but in other cases it does not.

It is fine if the idea is to have a minimalist space; however, there is a minimum of appliances and objects that will give your home a tone of warmth, not only visually but to enjoy the house.

What do we mean? Pay attention and take note of everything you will need to live with dignity.

1. Mattress

There is nothing like coming home and having a place to relax and, moreover, a comfortable space to rest and sleep. A mattress can take several dollars, but it is the best investment.

The bed may wait a little longer, but this is definitely one of the first items you should purchase.

You can also consider buying a sofa bed, so that during the day and in the spare time it will be a sofa for you to sit and to receive visitors and when you are resting you will use it as a bed.

If you already own some of this furniture and wish to move it to your new home, your best helper will be a moving company that can provide you with the necessary support to safely and efficiently move all those objects that will be useful in your new home.

2. Refrigerator

It doesn’t have to be very big or state-of-the-art, it just needs to cool well and keep your food longer.

Advantage: grocery shopping will last longer. This translates into savings in every way: fewer visits to the store, less use of transportation if the place is far away (so you don’t spend gas or pennies on the bus, as the case may be), among others.

3. Kitchen

You can start with a kitchen with an electric stove or, if you have the funds, a slightly larger kitchen, but this is a must-have when settling into your new home.

Advantage: With a kitchen, you can save several hundred dollars on street food, while still eating healthy.

4. Cutlery and basic kitchen tools

Whether you cook a lot or a little, you will always need tools to help you cook your food. Pans, pots, graters, chopping boards and spatulas will be great allies.

So will cutlery, glasses and plates, at least four of each. Consider buying tupperware, to store leftover food or to store a portion to eat at work.

Advantage: First of all, you won’t eat with your hands. In addition, cooking will not be an odyssey, but a simpler and more practical task.

On the other hand, you will be able to receive guests at home and everyone will have a good time, at least at the table.

5. Dining room

A table and chairs are a must. There you will be able to sit, eat, work, receive visitors, rest and almost any activity in your home.

Advantage: A dining room will give you the feeling of coziness in the home and you will have a place to do everything from everyday tasks to the less usual ones.

6. Towels, bedding and pillows

Have at least two sets of bed linens and towels, so that when you wash one you can use the other. As for the pillow, you can have at least one to begin with.

Advantage: we will not only talk about a single advantage, but many. You will not stain the mattress, you will sleep without feeling the seams of the surface where you sleep, you will be able to cover yourself if you feel cold, you will be able to dry yourself after taking a shower, among others.

This is a good basic list. I agree that you need a mattress and can wait on the bed.

This is a great list of basic products you need when you move. We had to move into a rental while our house was being built and this would have come in handy!

I remember sleeping on the floor for about a week because I ordered our mattresses last minute. I sometimes forget that not everything delivers as fast as amazon prime. Thanks for sharing!

If the mattress isn’t right, it doesn’t matter how pretty the bed is… I found that out recently. I bought a beautiful bedroom set only to get a mattress that isn’t the right firmness for me. Big mistake. 😉

Right! I completely agree. Mattresses should definitely be tested first.

These are great pointers for first time movers. Indeed, having a well stocked kitchen with basics goes a long way to making a house a home. That coupled with a comfortable bed is crucial. Great tips, here.
