I am excited that the weather around here is finally starting to get nicer. It was rainy and cold for a long time, and now it’s finally starting to warm up. Honestly, I thought we were never going to get nice weather. It’s great that it’s finally starting to get nice out because my family enjoys being outdoors. We don’t get outdoors much when it’s cold out, but when it’s warmer out, we do a lot of things together. When it’s night time and it gets darker out, we enjoy outdoor glow in the dark fun! What is It:
“Capture the Flag” started 70+ years ago as an outdoor game where teams sneak into their opponents’ territory and try to steal their flag.
Now it’s been adapted for today’s generation – using glow-in-the-dark lights!
The kit’s 25 reusable light-up game pieces allow for up to 10 traditional Capture the Flag players. It also includes 12 alternate ways to play, allowing for 4-20 players.
My daughters, husband and I have been having so much fun with this game. We always loved the original capture the flag, so I knew this game was going to be a hit. My daughters have already been talking about getting more friends and family members over so we can build teams and play more. We are all so excited to start playing more outdoors at night with this game! They even have light up bracelets in blue and green for different teams. That way you can see everyone and be able to tell who is on which team.
In the game of capture the flag, both teams must have a jail set up. There are four green and four blue colors that are for the teams. These are used to create your jails. Once a player on the opposite team gets tagged, they must go to jail. The only way out, is if your team mate tags you out of jail. You can run to the other sides to find the orb, but you must be quick and not get tagged! We always say the more people that join in on the game, the funner it is!
Wizards & Werewolves is a newer game that Starlux Games came out with. It entices kids and grownups to put down their screens and have some outdoor excitement after dinner and homework. What could encourage them to run around the backyard more than a glow in the dark battle with two teams? They’ll never know it’s healthy exercise.
Play as a Wizard and capture the magical crystals that will lead your team to victory. Play as a Werewolf to hunt down the Wizards and turn all of them to your side. Designed for ages 8 and up, this fast-paced outdoor game is guaranteed to have the neighborhood kids’ pulses racing and imaginations soaring.
My kids love this one spot in one of our trees because it makes for a great hiding spot. They love to put the moon crystal there and hide it. We love to play this game in the backyard because we have a lot of great hiding spots back there. When you do hide the moon crystal, you do have to make sure it’s visible for all players and not hiding under something where nobody can see it. They need to be able to spot it so they can try to win the game.
There are actually a few different ways you can play the Wizards & Werewolves. We normally play level one since it’s a lot easier to play. There is also a level b and a level c. Each of them are a bit tougher as they go up in levels. The first one is played where everyone starts out as a wizard, except one person is the werewolf. The werewolf tries to tag all the wizards, and if they’re tagged, then they become a werewolf too. If one of the wizards finds the moon crystal and touches it, the wizards will win, but if the werewolf gets all wizards tagged, then the werewolves will win.
Both of these games are a lot of fun to play. My family has been enjoying playing together, especially my children. They are very excited to invite more friends and family over to play more with bigger teams! It’s a great way for everyone to get outside and be active. Much fun to be had with these outdoor games.
