Pioneer Auto Museum

I went on vacation a couple months ago and on the way there I saw a sign for the Pioneer Auto Museum. Personally, I love looking at old classic cars as well as seeing antique items. I just love seeing all the vintage items, and I wish that they still made a lot of the stuff they made many years ago. It would be nice to be able to own a classic car or some vintage items. Anytime I’m out and about I always make sure to stop at thrift stores if I can to check out if they have anything vintage. This place is located in Murdo, SD.

I am so glad we decided to stop here. They had a ton of stuff to look at both indoors and outside. There were so many things that even brought back some old memories for me. This was probably one of my favorite places we ended up stopping at. Everything was so amazing to see. I took so many photos and videos that I can’t even show them all here or it would be to much.

As soon as we walked in the first thing I saw was the General Lee Dodge Charger. This was certainly an amazing car to see. I’ve always loved Dukes of Hazzard, so this was great to be able to actually see the car in person. There were many used in the making of Dukes of Hazzard though, and there are still some out there today.

There are so many amazing cars to see here. I wish I could show them all off, but there are just so many to see. Inside you’ll see some of these cars, and then when you go outside, you’ll see so much more.

Have you ever seen the movie Dances With Wolves? If you have, you may recognize these from the movie. This was actually filmed in South Dakota. I thought this was really neat to see. I love seeing items that were used in movies.

There were a lot of Disney items too, especially of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. These are some of my favorites too. I actually still have some Mickey toys from back when I was a child. I have kept them all these years. It’s always neat to see these because Mickey has really changed over the years.

I absolutely love Betty Boop, so I was thrilled to see some figures of her. She has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. My parents use to have some Betty Boop figures as well, so it was nice to see some more of them. I’ve always loved seeing all the many outfits she had on.

Check out Yoda and Jar Jar. On the sign it says only 126 statues were made from Star Wars Episode 1. It was so amazing to be able to actually see this in person. I love all the characters in Star Wars.

I had to take pictures of this elephant. It was so neat seeing the way they made these. How amazing! Honestly, I’d really love to have one of these for myself. I could see it outside in my yard already. It’s so adorable!

There was so much to see. I could have literally been there for the whole day. I absolutely loved looking around at everything.

Not only did they have vehicles, but they also had tractors. There were a lot of them too. It was really neat to be able to see how these have changed over the years. If you know me, then you know I already love the older style of just about everything. It’s something about them that just looks better. Honestly, most of the vintage stuff I have, works better than some of the stuff now days too. You’d be surprised how long some stuff has lasted that is way older than some of the new stuff today. They just don’t make things like they use to.

You could even see some of the older style vehicles they used for work, such as the post office or Wells Fargo. There was even a hearse from 1890 there. Now that was pretty neat to see. It is not often that you get to see anything from the 1800’s.

Tom Mix’s 1931 Packard was an amazing vehicle to see. Tom Mix and his wonder horse ‘Tony’ was one of Americas most loved movie and radio stars. He stared in many early Western films. In fact, he had stared in a lot of films, including some silent films too.

This 1941 Buick Coupe was used in many Hollywood movies. Isn’t it so neat to be able to see some of the vehicles that were used in movies?! I personally love to see them.

They even had some old buildings, like this shop with many items inside. You could see how they had everything set up many many years ago. I loved looking at this shop because you got to see so many items. I really love seeing older cash registers, so that was great to see. You could see some old items that they use to sell. Even an electric coffee pot was there. Everything was so neat!

So many vehicles!! This was such an amazing place to see. I’m so glad we saw the billboard with this place on it. I did know about this place ahead of time, but I wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to see it or not. Luckily we had some time before we had to be in other places, so we were able to stop. I’m so glad we had the chance to see this place. I would definitely go back again if I’m ever in the area. If you’re ever near Murdo, SD, you won’t want to miss the Pioneer Auto Museum. You’ll see so many vintage items and old classic vehicles. It was such a sight to see.

I would love to visit as they have so many amazing things. I was a big fan of the dukes of Hazzard and imagined getting out of that car. 😂

Thank you for sharing pictures of all these old antique automobiles, that was too neat to see the evolution of designs. The elephant statue/fountain was also my favorite!
