Have you ever been to a museum? I love going to museums. I think they’re very educational and they have a lot of great history. A lot of museums have a lot of great displays for everyone to look at to show off their history. Have you ever been to a museum where you can actually touch some of the items and play around with them? The Science Museum of Minnesota is just like that. They’ll let you experiment with some of their displays so that you can learn a lot about science while at the museum.
My husband, daughters and I got free tickets to go to the Science Museum of Minnesota. We were all excited to go. My husband and I have been there before but it has been many years ago. I believe I went when I was in school and he went maybe six years ago with his cousin. Since it had been so long since I have gone I was very excited to take my children. They kept talking about wanting to go so when it finally came to the day we were going they got all excited. They were really looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs.
We were a little early once we arrived so we stayed in the lobby and looked around at what they had. Once they had their media table set up we all went over to get our tickets. They gave us wristbands to get in to see all of the science museum, tickets for the omnitheater and tickets for the Ultimate Dinosaurs. My daughters also got bags filled with all kinds of goodies. They were very excited about those.
My daughters were really loving the music stairs. Each time you went up or down the stairs they would make music. It was really neat. They had a lot of fun going up and down the stairs. It made for some great exercise as well. Whether you want fast or slow up the stairs they would make all different kinds of sounds.
My daughters love to do puzzles when they’re at home. When ever they find a puzzle they’re always wanting to do them, especially my three-year old daughter. She really loves puzzles. Every time she saw a puzzle at the museum she had to stop to do one. We found this giant map puzzle so of course the kids wanted to put it together. They had so much fun with this and I helped them out a bit.
My favorite part of the science museum was the tornado. I stayed here for a few minutes because it was so interested watching the tornado form over and over. I always thought tornadoes were very fascinating and always wondered about them.
There were a lot of different dinosaurs all over the museum. I’ve always found dinosaurs to be very fascinating so I had a lot of fun checking out all the dinosaurs all over. They’re very unique and I always wished I could have seen a real one. I think it would have been a great experience.
This was one of my husbands favorite things at the science museum. He watched these for probably 5-15 minutes. We all thought this was very entertaining to watch. I’m not sure if you can read this in the photo but on top it says “when populations of animals or plants are isolated, different selection pressures can result in them taking different evolutionary directions.”
We also got to go inside of a tugboat. My daughters got to see what it looks like on the inside and the outside. I think they had fun pretending to steer it and sitting in the chair as well as using the phone.
They even had some stations set up for kids to make different kinds of projects. One of them was this hand they got to make. Both of my daughters made them and had fun with them. They show you how the hand works. If you pull on the ribbons the hand will move. If you pull on just one of them they will just make one of the fingers move.
We all had such a great time at the science museum. The omnitheater was very interesting. They had the “Dinosaurs Alive” playing while we were there. I thought it was very interesting to learn about the dinosaurs. It was like a huge dome and the chairs were tilted back. It was very comfortable and a great experience to learn about dinosaurs.
We also got to go in to see Ultimate Dinosaurs which was very neat. For a very small fee you can enter this exhibit and learn more about the dinosaurs. You’ll be able to meet a new breed of dinosaurs here.
There was so much to learn and experiment with at the Science Museum of Minnesota. If you’re ever in the area I would highly recommend stopping at the Science Museum. It was a great learning experience for all of us. We all had such a great time. I’d love to go again when my daughters are a bit older so they can understand things a little more.

Looks like a great place to have fun with the family! I haven’t been to museum in quite awhile. My favorite is the famous Museum of Natural History in NYC. 🙂

What a wonderful museum! We have quite a few nearby that my daughters enjoy visiting as well. I think my girls (and me) would have loved those music stairs…. think of how many more people would use the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator if they made music!
