We have all heard of mean words, right? I’m sure some of us have even said some mean and hateful words or heard someone else say them. It’s definitely not fun being called something really mean or seeing someone get called something bad. For kids this can really become an issue. Kids are still young and they don’t always know what they could be saying could really hurt someone. This is why the Tacky Box was created.

The Tacky Box was made to make the world a kinder place, one child at a time. Kids will come in contact with tacky language and behavior no matter how much you try to avoid it. The Tacky Box helps kids learn what’s good and what’s bad. It comes with a book as well as a box. There are two different books/boxes made for boys and girls. I have two daughters so I chose the girl box/book to review.

I received this great box with a book called Margo’s Magnificent Choice. The book is about a monkey named Margo who learns of some not so very nice words and she doesn’t really realize what they mean. She meets all kinds of other animals saying all the wrong things but she doesn’t realize what she says is hurtful. In the end she finds out why everyone was turning away from her. She now knows what she had been saying was very mean and hurtful. She ends up getting this box and decorates it how she wants to. Then she puts all these pieces of paper with words inside.

The box that came with the book is just like the box Margo got in the book. It also came with some paper so you and your children can also write down some words in their own box. These words that are supposed to go in the box are mean or hurtful things or just bad words that you hear each day. If you were to hear someone say the word “stupid” or maybe “dumb” you’d write those words down on paper and put them in your box. The words are supposed to help teach your children that they’re very hurtful and not nice to use.

My kids really enjoyed decoration their box. I let them both decorate it how they wanted to. My two daughters are 3 and 4. They drew all over the box and really loved decorating it. My kids are young but they do understand most words very well. My oldest daughter who is in preschool always knows what words are mean or “naughty words” as she would say. If she hears someone calling someone a mean or hurtful word then she’ll say “that’s a naughty word.” I’m glad my kids can enjoy this box and we can teach them a lot about how hurtful words can truly be.

I’m so glad my daughters and I got the chance to review this box and book. They have learned a lot from it and we are very excited to start putting some words in to this box. I hope that it will teach them a lot and that they can help make the world a better place.

You can order your boy or girl box on their website.

What a great way to teach our children how to deal with the nasty of the world! Your daughters are cuties! They did a great job decorating the box!
