This year has been very different for everyone. Everything has changed a lot this year since all that has been happening. My daughters are now being homeschooled this year. They’re enjoying it, but at the same time they want to be in school with all of their friends. One thing that has been helping them while they stay home, are dwarf frogs. We recently got dwarf frogs from Froggy’s Lair and my daughters love them. It also teaches them a lot about responsibility and taking care of pets.
About
Pet adoptions have soared this year as families seek comfort and calm with a non-human companion. Pandemic puppies, cats and even frogs, are a marvelous addition to the household. Froggy’s Lair BioSp
Edutaining toy store chain Learning Express recently named Froggy’s Lair as its Science Toy of the Year. Their Top 5 reasons make this low maintenance BioSphere the perfect supplement to the new school year!
1. Having two small frogs in the house are ideal for emerging readers who often feel more comfortable reading aloud to a pet.
2. Nurturing a pet is an excellent way for kids to “parent play”—to practice being caregivers.
3. Feeding and caring for a pet encourages childhood responsibility.
4. Children with pets display improved impulse control, social skills, and self-esteem.
5. And lastly, sharing the love and care of a family pet forges an additional common bond among siblings.
“These amazing, nostalgic critters are great as a child’s first pet,” explains Ryp Walters, owner of Froggy’s Lair. “They only need to be fed twice a week and come with a year’s supply of food.” Additionally, “our frogs are sustainably and responsibly raised right here, locally, in the United States.
Octagon BioSphere
We got the octagon BioSphere. Before you get your frogs, you should have a gallon of distilled or purified water ready. You’re going to want this at room temperature and you’ll want to set them up as soon as they arrive. The very first thing we did when we got the dwarf frogs, was to put the sand inside the BioSphere.
We then put the gravel in. My daughters and I chose the colorful gravel. We thought this would be a beautiful choice for the frogs. We love all sorts of colors, so we decided to go with that selection.
Next we took the decorative rocks and placed them on top of the gravel. You want to place them around each other so that it will hold the bamboo in place.
Now you get to start filling it with water. You don’t want to fill it all the way. Make sure to fill it up to about 3-4 inches from the top.
It’s now time to add the bamboo. You want to push it down between the rocks and twist it into the colored gravel and sand.
Now you get to add the dwarf frogs! They’re so cute and fun to watch. My daughters and I have been having a lot of fun just watching them swim around. They’re great pets!
Help Kids With Responsibility
We have been enjoying our pet dwarf frogs from Froggy’s Lair a lot. This is such a great way to teach kids about responsibility as well. The frogs don’t need a lot to be taken care of either. You just have to feed them twice a week and make sure to clean out their container every other month. They’re so simple to take care of. We love them! They are great starter pets for kids. It will help them get use to the responsibility of taking care of their own pets. My daughters love to feed them, and take turns feeding them.
These dwarf frogs have been a joy in our life. Each morning when we wake up we always check on the frogs. We do the same when we go to bed. Throughout the day we are always watching them. They are so entertaining. I love that my kids have been enjoying taking care of them too. They’re doing a wonderful job. They have certainly been keeping us busy and helping them while they’re home working for school. They sure are great!
