I’m going to give you some history on chairs. Chairs? Yes, that’s right I said chairs. Now I know this might sound odd but there are some really interesting facts I’d love to share with you. They have been around for a very long time.
Chairs date back all the way to 2 B.C. There are so many different types of chairs and I’m sure most of us use them every day. I’m sitting in a chair right now as I write-up this post. I’m actually sitting in a hard chair that’s suppose to be used at a card table. I know I should have a nice computer chair while I sit down at the computer, but I don’t. Hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to get one of those nice cushioned computer chairs that spin around. Charles Darwin was the inventor of the office chairs. He actually put wheels on his chair so that he could get his specimens quicker while in his study. Weird, right?
How about the chairs with cushions on them…Where did those come from? In the medieval times cushions were used to ease the hardness of the wooden stool or chair. They came in many different types of colors and patterns. They were also used in both the poor and wealthy homes.
How about the chair of torture..I wouldn’t want to have to be stuck in one of those. That just looks painful. These chairs have spikes all around them. They can range anywhere from 500-1,500 spikes. I honestly don’t think I would have survived very long in one of these. That’s just pure torture.
Speaking of chairs, Serrano’s Furniture has some on sale right now. Check out some of their dining area chairs for some great deals.
Have you really put much thought in to chairs? I bet you haven’t. I will say that I surely haven’t until now. It’s very interesting to see some of the chairs back in the old times and then look at them now. Everything has really changed now.
