Disney’s The Lion King was originally released in 1994. I can’t believe it’s been that long already! I can remember watching this movie as a kid a lot. This was one of my favorite Disney movies as a child. I’m so happy that they’re going to be making this part of the signature collection! How many of you loved this one as a kid? My girls have seen it as well and they both love it. I love sharing all these Disney movies with my kids that I watched as a kid.
Disney announced today at D23 Expo that in August, one of the biggest animated films in history, The Lion King, the coming-of-age masterpiece, filled with humor and heart, breathtaking animation and soul-stirring Academy Award®–winning music (1994: Best Original Score and Best Original Song, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”), joins the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection. The Lion King roars to Its rightful place in the Walt Disney Signature Collection on Digital Aug. 15th and on Blu-ray™ Aug. 29th.
Audiences will fall in love all over again with the treasured classic, and a new generation of fans will laugh with Timon and Pumbaa, cry with Simba and Mufasa, burst into song, and find their place in the “Circle of Life.” The Walt Disney Signature Collection release includes over three hours of classic bonus material and exclusive, brand new features inviting viewers to sing along with the film’s award-winning music, observe recording sessions, step inside the story room, witness the evolution of a villain, and join Nathan Lane (voice of Timon) and Matthew Broderick (voice of Adult Simba) for an extended conversation regarding the legacy of “The Lion King.”
I thought it would be fun to make some snacks that would go well with this movie. Since my girls love fruit and vegetables a lot, I decided to make some grubs out of fruits and vegetables. I thought this would go great with Timon and Pumbaa since they loved eating grubs in the movie.
For the ladybug, you’ll need black olives, cherry tomatoes, lunchmeat, crackers and black icing. For the snail, you’ll need apples, grapes, cucumbers, peanut butter and black icing. For the caterpillar you’ll need grapes, black icing and a skewer. These are all very simple to make, and you can see how I made them from the photos.
For the caterpillar, I just put grapes on the skewer. Than I used the black icing to make a mouth and eyes. That’s it for that one! For the snail, I cut up an apple in the shape of a rectangle. Than I put peanut butter on it. I than used a slice of cucumber for the shell, and a grape for the head. Than I used the black icing for the snails eyes. The ladybug I used a cracker for the base, and put meat down on it. I cut up a cherry tomato in fourths and used half for the wings. I than cut a little bit off the black olive and used that for the head. Than I just used black icing for the black dots on it’s back! These are all such simple ways to be creative. Kids love these too!
