Now that the weather is finally nicer, it’s time to enjoy it. My family and I love doing a lot of outdoor activities in the spring/summer. There is so much more to do when it’s nice outside, at least that’s how I feel. One of my families favorite things to do in the spring/summer, is to go to amusement parks. They’re a great way to have a fun time with the family. One of our favorite amusement parks, is Valleyfair. We try to go there at least once a year. I know if we lived closer, we would certainly have their gold passes so we could go a lot more often.
Valleyfair is an amusement park located in Shakopee, MN. They have a ton of rides. You pay one set price, and then you get to ride as many of the rides as you’d like. This year was especially great for my family because my daughters were both tall enough to ride more of the bigger rides this year. They got to enjoy many of the rollercoasters, and they enjoyed every minute of it.
I love that Valleyfair is always adding in new rides. Often you’ll see them bring on a new ride. This year the new ride they had, is Delirious. This ride is a 24-person train where they’ll begin to rock back and forth. The train gains momentum and races around the inside of the track, eventually slowing to hold riders suspended upside-down; the ride then reverses direction. Delirious will be capable of completing 10 revolutions in less than a minute, producing a high intensity ride experience. The ride’s purple color scheme, lighting, and music will create an immersive atmosphere in keeping with Route 76’s classic amusement park theme. I absolutely loved this ride. It was certainly a great thrill, and I know everyone else thought so too. You could see it on their faces!
North Star is not as new, but it’s one of the newer rides at Valleyfair. This ride is my youngest daughter, Tesla’s favorite ride as well as mine. We love being able to go up high and just sit as we swing around. It is a 230-foot-tall tower that spins riders more than 20 stories above the ground. Seated in two-person chain-link swings that allows feet to dangle, riders will slowly begin rotating in a circular motion reaching speeds of up to 40 mph as the swings ascend and descend the tower. It’s certainly a fun one for us.
My daughters were so excited that they were finally tall enough to ride the Wild Thing. Wild Thing begins by slithering 207 feet up the first hill, and follows with a gravity-defying drop of up to 74 miles per hour. This drop then immediately rolls into a second smaller hill which will have you floating in your seat! Next is the figure eight helix which soars under support beams for the ride which seem uncomfortably close, but are in fact out of reach. Wild Thing then concludes with a series of camel back hills running alongside the two initial hills. This ride is always one of my families favorites. Now I can add it to both of my daughters favorites as well. I’m so happy that we can all finally enjoy this one together.
My daughters were not tall enough to ride Steel Venom yet, but since this is my all time favorite ride, I just had to go on this one. This coaster catapults you forward very quickly and you’ll go backwards on this one as well. I think I may love this one the most because it goes backwards. That’s one of my favorite parts of this ride. It may be a short ride, but it’s so much fun, and I’d ride this one over and over again.
Planet Snoopy is this area where there are a ton of rides for kids. I love that they have a section dedicated to kids. Not all kids are tall enough for some of the rides, so it’s nice to have these ones for all the kids. My daughters do love the more adult rides, but they still enjoy a lot of these kids rides as well. We always go on a few of these when we’re at Valleyfair. Behind it, you’ll also see the Power Tower. My daughters are not tall enough for that ride yet either, but I can’t wait til they are because it’s another one of my favorites. They have a couple different ones on the tower, and that is two red ones and one blue. The two red ones go down super fast, and the blue one shoots up fast. They’re both a lot of fun.
My husband loves the classic vehicles, so I knew he’d want to take our girls on the antique autos ride. He took Tesla and I took Mercades on this ride. Both of the girls were able to push the pedal and steer the vehicle themselves. They both had some troubles with it, so my husband and I both helped them with it, but they enjoyed being able to drive themselves.
The monster is always a fun classic ride to go on. Monster takes riders into its grips and spins, turns, lifts and drops them all at once on this family friendly ride. The 24 twirling cars extend from six tentacles which rotate in a counter-clockwise motion on this monstrous ride.
My husband and I both won our girls a prize at one of the games. They have a ton of games to play for prizes too. You’ll find a lot of great, fun games to play throughout the amusement park. They even have an area with arcade games which is always a lot of fun too.
My father came along with us as well, that way we could all take turns on some of the rides too. It makes it easier for all of us since my daughters are not able to go on all of the rides just yet. We enjoyed some ice cream while we were there, and it was very delicious. We love the waffle cones, so of course we got that with some of the “twist” which is with vanilla and chocolate ice cream. It’s always fun getting ice cream from Valleyfair.
I saw that they had this miniature Ferris wheel, so I had to get a photo of that, and decided to have everyone get together for a photo. Of course I wasn’t able to get myself in the photo, but that’s okay. You’ll see my husband, father and two daughters in this photo. We just love the whole scenery at Valleyfair. It’s always so beautiful to see.
The wave was the final ride everyone (except for me) went on. I honestly didn’t want to get all wet right before we left, but everyone else was okay with it, so I was able to grab some photos and I’m so glad I did. This ride is a lot of fun, because I’ve been on it before. It’s always a blast. The Wave packs one serious splash! Hop aboard our 20-passenger boats and get lifted 50 feet above the river below. And before you know it, you’re plunging back down a 50 degree drop at 40mph. There is no way you will not get wet on this ride, so don’t go on it unless you’re okay with getting wet. I think it’s the perfect ride on a hot summer day.
We all had an amazing time at Valleyfair and we can’t wait to go again. If you’re ever in the area I’d highly recommend visiting Valleyfair. You’ll have a blast with all the amazing rides. My family had a wonderful time. We hope to go again this year.
Have any of you been to Valleyfair before? Have any favorite rides or see any rides that look interesting to you?

It sure is!
This park looks like a real find for people in that area. I am not so in love with rollercoasters now but my kids would love this park.
I’m a fan of heights, so all these rides I always enjoy. 🙂
I have not been to Valley fair in years. When I was a kid we would go there all the time. I cannot believe how updated and how many more rides there are. I hope at some point I can go back there.
I hope you’re able to go back again sometime too. It’s changed a bit since I was a kid too.
Aww yay Snoopy! It looks like you had a great visit to the park!
Yes, we sure did!
Wow, this place is super impressive. At first I thought it was a traveling fair, but then I realized it had all of my fav types of rides I can expect at parks near us!
It’s an amazing amusement park. I love going every year if possible. So much fun!
I loved fairs growing up! It was a symbol that school was out for the summer and I hated school! haha!
I wasn’t a huge fan of school myself either. This amusement park is certainly one to go too.
We’ve never been, but we are huge amusement park fans so hopefully we can cross it off our list one day!
It’s one of my favorites for sure! I hope you will be able to go someday.
My little one would LOVE this place. Anything to keep him busy and rides are a must!
Right! Kids love all kinds of rides.
Very cool and fun place for a family. My boys would love going there.
Yes, it sure is. My family always enjoys it at Valleyfair.
I feel scared just looking at that North Star ride. I am bummed that I can’t do many rides anymore. Terrible vertigo.
That’s to bad. They’re so much fun!
Looks so much fun!! I am sure my kids would love to visit!
It is a lot of fun.
My nine year old daughter is such a thrill seeker. She would love all these attractions! I don’t think I would enjoy them as much now as I would have when I was younger but I’ll happily watch my husband ride with her!
Sounds like she’d really have fun here then!
We are a theme park family and this looks amazing. So much fun. We’re in! lol
We are as well, which is why we love Valleyfair!
Talk about an awesome place for the whole family this summer! I love that there are plenty of rides to experience there for both the bigger kids and the smaller ones. I think there’s so much to look forward to!

This looks like a really fun place to take the kids. I need to go to a theme park with them soon!
It sure is. We love it!
Looks like everyone had a great time. I wish it was cooler in FL to enjoy any theme parks but it’s a walking sauna to try to enjoy them and most are so expensive.
Yes, everyone had an amazing time.
What a cool place! And those are some seriously intense rides. I can’t believe how tall those swings are! My kids would love it!
They sure are. Lots of fun too!
My kids would LOVE this place! I wish we lived closer.
