2019 Valleyfair Media Food Preview

13 May, 2019 by KatBp 56 Comments

My family and I are so excited that it’s finally starting to warm up. We love the warmer weather, and love doing all kinds of activities in the spring/summer. One of our absolute favorite things to do when the weather is nice out, is to go to an amusement park. My daughters love a great thrill ride, so Valleyfair has always been our go to amusement park. They have lots of fun thrill rides and so much more!

We went to Valleyfair on their opening day, so that was extremely exciting. This was the first time we had ever gone on the day it opens. I actually told my daughters we were going shopping that day, and surprised them with the trip to Valleyfair. They sure were surprised when we got their and they found out we were not going shopping, but we were going to Valleyfair! The looks on their faces and all the excitement was definitely worth it!

Since it was opening day, they had a media food preview that we got to be a part of. We were able to try out lots of new foods and drinks that are coming to Valleyfair this summer! This was exciting because this was our first time we had been to one of their food previews. It was definitely worth it too. They have so many new amazing foods and drinks coming out.

I am usually not a big fan of cotton candy, but this new birthday cake cotton candy was amazing! This is a grape sizzle cotton candy with Pop Rocks and S’Mores cotton candy. I can now say that I will be able to enjoy some cotton candy because this was so good. I never thought I’d be able to enjoy some again, and I’m glad I can. This is a must try if you’re ever at Valleyfair. I love the new cotton candy!

Tacos are amazing already, so I knew we’d love all these tacos they had. They have three different kinds, which are MN Taco with ground beef, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomato. Also Al Pastor cooked in the stand on a Vertical Broiler with green salsa, white onion and cotija. The other one is Fire Roasted Chicken with corn salsa and queso. My favorite was the chicken, my oldest daughter loved the beef, and a good friend of mine who I brought with, loved the pork. They were all very delicious!

Who would have thought that hot cheeto fried pickles would taste amazing?! I actually really enjoyed these. They were not like I was expecting them to be. There were actually not spicy at all. Not to me anyways. Very delicious!

This was actually my first time trying Roasted Elote, and I’m so glad I did. It was amazing! I’ve always wanted to try it, just never got around to it. I’m glad they’re bringing this to Valleyfair. It’s going to be a huge hit I’m sure!

This dessert pizza was so amazing! This came with a cinnamon Sugar Crust, Nutella, Crushed Oreo, Whipped Cream, Chocolate and Caramel. This was certainly one of my favorite desserts they had there. It was so good! I definitely want to have some more of this.

My youngest daughter and I really enjoyed the Mostaccioli con Ricotta. This is something I can’t believe I’ve never tried before. I love pasta, and this was amazing! I can’t wait to have more of this!

Check out all these different kinds of hot dogs! Giardiniera Dog, Lobster Mac & Cheese Dog, and Cubano Dog. Can you believe that had one that was a lobster mac & cheese hot dog?! So much goodness in all these hot dogs. A definite must try if you love hot dogs.

I love salads, and this one was amazing. It’s an Italian chop salad. Honestly, it’s probably one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time. It was a bit different since it had pepporonis and meatballs, but it sure was good. I am glad they will have more healthy options like these this summer.

The TREX Cookiewich sure looked amazing, but unfortunately while I was there I didn’t see them, so I wasn’t able to try it. I don’t know if they brought them out at the end or what, but I was a bit disappointed not to be able to try it, but that’s okay. I’m sure this was amazing!

I loved the House smoked pulled pork sandwich. Pulled pork sandwiches are one of my favorites, so this was definitely something I really enjoyed. I also really liked the gluten-free hash brown & hollandaise burger. That was definitely something new and interesting. These were both very delicious.

I’m not positive on the name on this one, but it was chicken with mashed potatoes in a waffle cone. I already love chicken and mashed potatoes together, so you know this was good. It was interesting to have it in a waffle cone too. I liked that though. A great way to carry it!

Here are a few of their brews coming out this summer, and they’re Extra Pale Ale, Dakotah Soul and Slugfest Juicy EPA.

They also have Valleyfair Rum Punch with Tattersall Barrel Select Rum. I actually tried one of these (the one pinkish/red one on the right) and it was really good. I normally don’t really drink, but that one had a great flavor.

After checking out all the amazing food and drinks they had, we headed out for some rides. On the way we ended up seeing Lucy, and I just had to get a photo of her! I saw some of the other Peanuts characters around as well, but we were only able to capture this one photo. We love Lucy, so that was fun!

Valleyfair has so many great rides. My daughters and I always enjoy the thrill rides the most. They have grown to really love the thrill rides, and I’m so happy they do. That means we get to ride a lot of my favorite rides together. They have many fun rollercoasters that we always enjoy riding together. One of both of my daughters favorites, is the Wild Thing.

STEEL VENOM

Steel Venom has always been one of my favorite rides. Unfortunately my daughters are not tall enough yet for this ride, but I always enjoy going on this one. In less than four seconds, you’ll be accelerated to 68 mph toward the forward tower before dropping back down through the station house and up the back tower. The train runs along a 656 foot U-shaped track, incorporating two 185-foot vertical spikes. The forward spike features a twisted spiral while the backwards spike provides a straight freefall.

WILD THING

Wild Thing is the green rollarcoaster, which we all love a lot! This ride begins by slithering 207 feet up the first hill, giving you stunning views of the entire park. This colossal hill is followed by a gravity-defying drop where the ride reaches up to 74 miles per hour. This drop then immediately rolls into a second smaller hill which will have you floating in your seat! Next is the figure eight helix which soars under support beams for the ride which seem uncomfortably close, but are in fact out of reach. Views of Route 76 can be seen as you begin to coast and catch your breath, but the funs not over. Wild Thing then concludes with a series of camel back hills running alongside the two initial hills. Make sure you smile for the camera after you enter the pitch black tunnel. You can view your photos once you get off the ride.

NORTH STAR

My youngest daughter and I are a big fan of the North Star. This is a 230-foot-tall tower that spins riders more than 20 stories above the ground. Seated in two-person chain-link swings that allow feet to dangle, riders will slowly begin rotating in a circular motion reaching speeds of up to 40 mph as the swings ascend and descend the tower. If you enjoy swinging, you may really enjoy this one!

DELIRIOUS

Delirious is the purple circle ride that  you can see lite up. That one is one of their newest rides they have. This ride just opened in 2018. It is a 70-foot looping thrill ride. This ride coils riders upside-down on a seven story, 360-degree freestanding structure with a high capacity, high speed train. Riders board the 24-person train where they begin to rock back and forth. The train gains momentum and races around the inside of this 7-story track, eventually slowing to hold riders suspended upside-down; the ride then reverses direction. Delirious will be capable of completing 10 revolutions in less than a minute, producing a high intensity ride experience.

PEANUTS PLAYHOUSE

If you ever need a break and want the kids to run around and have fun, the Peanuts Playhouse is a perfect spot for the kids. It’s a great place to cool off as well since it has AC. The kids can blast foam balls from toy cannons and sling-shots in a two-story interactive play area. This playhouse is an interactive foam ball play area designed for children with foam targets, cannons, and slides! My daughters always have a lot of fun here. They get to run around and have fun while the rest of us get to enjoy a nice break.

Overall, we all had a blast! We were all tired out at the end of the day. Of course nobody wanted to go home, but the park was starting to close.  We always try to head to Valleyfair at least once a year. We all always have so much fun at Valleyfair. If you’re ever in the area, this is a must go to place. It’s so much fun! If you enjoy rides and lots of amazing fair foods, this is the place to go.

Check out my daughters video they did for their YouTube channel as well while we were at Valleyfair!

Which of their new foods or drinks would you love to try?

Ok, this amusement park has some fantastic food! Tacos, roasted elote (first time I’ve heard corn called that!) would be the ones I’d love to eat. Of course, cotton candy rules the day as well. What an awesome amusement park! Looks like some great rides too!
