Does it feel like your to-do list is always getting longer and longer? Between work, your social life, taking care of your home, and having a family, it probably seems impossible to get everything done. However, there are ways to do more in less time and what it comes down to is boosting your productivity and working smarter, not harder. Here are 4 ways to do more in less time:
Plan out each day
For starters, plan out each day ahead of time. If you make a list of all the tasks that need to get done, you can then time everything out. Set specific times for everything and if you need to, fire up a timer that can help keep you on track. If you are feeling overwhelmed at the beginning of this process, start with your monthly view in a calendar. Write out any planned meetings first. Then, write down any family obligations that you have. Do you have any due dates coming up? That is definitely something you will need to add in.
Once you have finished with your monthly view, break everything out into a weekly view. In order to meet your upcoming deadlines, do you need to start working on your task by a certain date? Fill that in. What about your meetings? Do you need to prepare? Write that down. Plan out your entire month in weekly formats, helping you break down all of your big tasks into more manageable, smaller tasks.
Once your monthly and weekly view is finished, it’s time to tackle your daily views. You can do this one week (or even one day) at a time. Essentially, follow the same steps for the monthly and weekly views. Just break those big tasks out into smaller tasks and create your schedule for the day. Your daily view should look more like a list or a schedule, and this is what is going to help you stay on track and organized the most.
Put away your phone
If there is one distraction that stalls most people the most, it would definitely be the phone. Calls, texts, YouTube, social media alerts, emails, and so much more. It all comes flooding in throughout the day in a steady stream of alerts. Put your phone off to the side and put it on quiet mode, or airplane mode. This will help you stay organized and focused. Plus, without the constant flood of notifications, you will get so much more done.
Get others involved
My tried and true way to do more in less time: get others involved! No matter if it is family, friends, or other companies, outsource when you can, to save yourself. If two people are working towards a goal at one time, that goal will be finished much faster compared to just one person working towards it. A great example of this is a move. If you try to move yourself, it will take a while. If you hire a professional moving company, instead, it will free up a lot of time for yourself AND it will get you moved into your new home a lot faster, too. Why? Because more people are working towards the same goal at once. Just make sure you find a company with great reviews, like Movin’. They do safe moving Salt Lake City, Utah, residential moving, packing services, and so much more. They have a 5-star rating on Facebook and a 4.9-star rating on Google! These are the companies that will really provide you great service – the ones you can trust!
Figure out meals
If you have a very busy week and need to get a lot done, plan out your meals in advance. This might sound silly because making a meal only takes about 30 minutes or so, give or take some time. However, that 30 minutes could give you a lot of time to get things done. Pre-make salads, bulk dishes like spaghetti or lasagna, and have everything ready-to-go, so all that you need to do is heat it up and eat it! This is also a great way to make sure that you are eating enough, and not just pushing it off because you are “too busy.” No matter how busy you are, you absolutely need to make sure you are fueling yourself with good food and enough water, as well.

Me too! Sometimes I get distracted with it.
I am 1000 times more productive if my phone is in a separate room. I hate how addicted I am to it.
Me too!
Yes! So important! I thought that when I became a SAHM that I would have plenty of time to finally do everything I couldn’t when I worked full time. I was WRONG! Planning is KEY!
Right! Planning sure is key.
I have some systems in place, like no social media for a block of time and no emails unless it is the time to check them. That has helped me do more!
That’s always a great idea. It can be hard when you get distracted.
Although it’s hard I already started limiting my use of phone or any gadgets and focus more on other things or tasks and it really helps!
Yes! It really does help.
Time management becomes paramount when we have less and less of it to work with!
Agreed!
Having a meal plan has been a life saver. I don’t have to think about dinner because its always planned out.
I completely agree. Having a meal plan is so helpful.
I need to make a better effort at planning my meals in advance. It’s a chore but my week always goes better when I have a meal plan.
I really need to try harder at that too. I was doing it for awhile and stopped for some reason.
Having a To Do list and journalling definitely helps me save time more. As well as it makes things more organized for me. Those are some great tips to keep in mind.
Yes, it really is a life saver.
