The holidays are such a fun time for many. I enjoy being around family and friends this time of year. There is so much you can do while you’re with those that you love. Even though the Winter months are cold, you can still enjoy being outdoors. My kids love to be outdoors, and you can find many ways to be able to stay active during these Winter months.

  1. Build a Snowman
  2. Go sledding
  3. Have a snowball fight
  4. Make an Igloo
  5. Go see a lights show
  6. Go ice skating
  7. Take a Winter hike
  8. Go skiing or snowboarding
  9. Take a horse carriage ride if you have one in your area
  10. Make snow angels
  11. Catch snowflakes
  12. Go to a holiday parade
  13. Go ice fishing
  14. Shovel the snow
  15. Build a Winter bonfire
  16. Go snowshoeing
  17. Play some hockey outdoors
  18. Do some caroling around your neighborhood
  19. Have an outdoor treasure hunt
  20. Draw pictures in the snow. You can use a bottle filled with warm water and food coloring. This will give the snow colors! The kids will love it!
  21. Volunteer. There are a lot of ways to volunteer around this time. You can simply volunteer your time by helping someone shovel.
  22. You can always walk around your neighborhood looking at lights
  23. Collect pine cones. You can make wreathes or any other decorations with them.

There is so much you can do during these cold months. You don’t have to let the cold get in the way of  getting outdoors and having some fun. I’m sure you can think of a lot more ideas to do as well. The list can go on and on with fun activities for your family. This is the perfect time to get outdoors while the holidays are around. I hope that you can find some fun activities to enjoy with your family during the holidays.

I hope that you’ll find some of these activities to be fun and enjoyable for your family. Do you have a favorite Winter activity to do?

You can find out more on how play can benefit your family at The Voice of Play.
