Do you have children who love to discover things? My daughters are all about discovery. They love to go outside and find all sorts of things. I think letting children discovery things on their own is a wonderful thing. One of their favorite things to discover outside are bugs. They also love finding different creatures in the water. We’ve never been to the ocean, but I know my girls would have a blast if they were able to go see all the wonderful creatures in the ocean.

I received one of these great Discovery Boxes from Revelae Kids. They have many different boxes to choose from. I wanted to go with the ocean exploration one because my daughters love all things in the ocean. This box contains:

  • 3 sea creatures
  • 3 colorful fish
  • 3 starfish
  • 6 colorful shells
  • 8 multi-colored ice rocks
  • 1 large crystal
  • 3 aquarium plants
  • 2 lbs. aqua water beads + 1 refill
  • Bubble scoop
  • Magnifying glass
  • 11″ x 11″ clear storage box with detachable lid

beads

The first thing you want to do with this box, is to take out the beads and put them in a bowl. I’ve used these before, so I knew what I was supposed to do. For those of you that are new with these, it’s very simple to do. You just have to add some water to the bowl so that the little beads are all covered up. You’ll want to let them sit in the water for about 12 hours so that they can grow in to these bigger water beads.

Kids will enjoy hours of imaginative play; scooping, collecting, and sorting the hidden treasures within this box. My daughters have had a lot of fun with this box. They love to use the scoop to scoop up all the items. I would have to say that’s their favorite part. They also love picking up the beads and just playing with them. I actually had this box out for my daughter’s birthday party last weekend, and the kids loved it. They all played with it for a long time. It’s great to have a nice box like this where kids can be very entertained for hours.

My oldest daughter, Mercades was having fun checking out all the underwater creatures with the little magnifying glass that this box came with. My girls have always loved looking at items though a magnifying glass. This discovery box makes it easier for them to search for all of the ocean creatures and even learn more about them.

Since there are smaller pieces with this discovery box, it’s recommend for the ages of 3+. I would highly recommend one of these boxes for children. My daughters have been playing with their box for a long time. They love to take it out after school and scoop up all the pieces. I think it’s a wonderful way for them to discover more about the ocean as well. You can purchase your very own box HERE. Some of the other themes include Ocean Exploration, Butterfly Garden, Rainforest Exploration, Dinosaur World and more.

  1. We have been to the ocean quite a number of times, but I think my son would actually like this even better than that. I’m going to have to order it for my child he would be in heaven.

  2. My niece and nephew love playing with water beads so I bet this kit would be something they would totally love! I like how you get everything already put together in a kit instead of buying items separately.

  3. Oh my goodness, what total hands-on fun. This would be great as a class gift for my Baby Miss’ Kinder Class. The water beads make it a fun activity, too!

    • I think they’d make great gifts. All the kids at my daughters birthday party loved it. Their ages ranged from 5-8 and they had a lot of fun with it.

  4. Tactile experiences are so important to kids learning. And like you’ve done, it’s important to make it fun so they will enjoy the learning process more as they grow.

  5. So when are you guys planning a trip to the ocean? I am sure this gift has inspired them to want to go even more. We can’t wait to read that blog too!

    • I have no idea at this point. I wish I could just up and go, but I know someday we’ll be able to see the ocean. I would love for my girls to be able to experience going to the ocean.

    • I think they’re so neat! I do agree a bit on the price, but for kids to be so happy I find it worth it. They play with them for hours and they last for a long time too.
