I was lucky enough to be in a recipe challenge by creating a recipe using the Golden Eagle Syrup. I tried out a few recipes, and the one that turned out the best was a cherry jello popcorn recipe. My family loves popcorn, so I thought this would be a great chance to create something different with popcorn.

Ingredients:

  • 10 Cups Popcorn
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 TBS. Golden Eagle Syrup
  • 3 oz. Cherry Gelatin

Directions: Using the popcorn seeds, pop ten cups of popcorn. Once you have that ready, put that in a large bowl. Next you’re going to want to put the butter, sugar and Golden Eagle Syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. It should be about 5-10 minutes til that gets heated up. Then you can slowly start adding in the gelatin. I usually add a one or two spoonfuls at a time. Make sure to mix that up well too.

Once it’s creamy and everything is mixed well, you can pour it right over the popcorn and mix it all up. Make sure to get all of the popcorn mixed up well.

Then you’re going to want to put some foil on a baking sheet and put the popcorn on the foil and flatten it out.

Bake that on 200 degrees for about 30 minutes. After you take it out of the oven you can put it back in a bowl and start breaking up the pieces. You may want to let it cool a bit before doing that.

That’s all there is to it. A very simple, yet delicious recipe! If you love having popcorn during movies, this can be a different way to make movie time even more fun! I’ve always loved popcorn during movies, and now I love it even more!

  1. I have never heard of making popcorn like this. What a unique twist to add gelatin. I’m sure you could sub out different flavors to suit your family’s tastes, too. Neat!

  2. Wow this looks like a neat treat! I bet my kids would be all over this, especially for a special movie night! I will have to try this!

  3. I don’t think I’ve had a cherry flavored popcorn before. I think it’s amazing and the cherry flavor is perfect for the summer too. This is definitely worth a try! Thanks for the recipe!

  5. When I first read the title, I was really confused how someone could make something like this. But now that I know what it is I think it is really cool! My kids would love to try something like this sometime.

    • It does sound a bit odd, but yes it is great! You don’t actually make jello, so I can see how that got confusing at first.

  6. Okay, I have to say, I have NO idea how I feel about this. I love cherry jello … I love cherry anything. I am a HUGE fan of popcorn; like serious. But, combining the two??? MIND BLOWN. I would be willing to try it but I just don’t know, Kat … I just don’t know! LOL

    • It’s so good though! It’s just like eating flavored popcorn. I use to eat something similar as a kid and it’s so good.

  7. We do love popcorn so much as that has been a great snack ideas whenever we have movie night at home. The cherry jello version is something quiet different, but looks so delicious that I would want to try it right away!

  8. I limit the sugar my oldest can get and red dye because it makes him go bananas but this is something I would let him have some of. What a great way to use cherry instead of red dye!

    • I limit the sugar for my girls as well. This wasn’t so bad with sugar either. I think it’s a great treat for movie time!
