3 Relationship Advice Every Married Couple Needs To Know

9 September, 2022 by KatBp 32 Comments

It was love at first sight as if destiny brought you two together at this place. Everything around you just started making more sense. Who are you? What do you desire? And Where do you belong? The answer to these questions was right in front of you.

While their presence enchants you, a sudden realization hits, i.e., you can not keep these feelings to yourself. Making a confession, perhaps a proposal is necessary.

Luckily, things worked out, you exchanged vows, and now you have entered a new phase. In short, you are now married.

As romantic as it may sound, getting married brings a new share of responsibilities.

From taking care of your family to focusing on your own growth, somewhere between all these tasks, your relationship may experience a few hardships. Fortunately, with our little help, you can get through this phase.

Here are the three pieces of relationship advice that can improve your married life.

# 1 Make Spending “Quality” Time A Priority

Spending time together and understanding each other is the foundation of every successful relationship. It’s not limited to planning date night. Instead, it could be as simple as sharing morning coffee, picking up your partner from the office, or doing household chores together.

You’ll have to find romance and thrill in every moment spent together.

Of course, there are an array of formats and forms to spend “quality time.” You and your partner need to figure out the ideas that work best for both by making efforts and communicating.

# 2 Be Responsible For Your Own Needs

Being married to your life’s love does not mean that you both have to be interdependent. Yes, there is surely a need for cooperation. However, one must not keep their own desires aside just to provide for others. Let’s take an example for better understanding.

Suppose you wish your partner to be more romantic and try new things such as massager, real whizzinator XXX, or cosplay when making love. In that case, you can communicate the same to your partner. Or, you can take the matter into your hands and surprise your partner.

The key here is never to stop trying to enhance your relationship.

# 3 Do Not Just Assume

Assumptions often create a crack in a relationship. This crack provides space for insecurities, unrealistic expectations, and communication barriers. Speaking of the obvious, all these issues lead to conflicts and frequent arguments.

In fact, a recent survey reported that unresolved conflicts are among the top reasons for filing a divorce in the U.S.

To avoid such a situation, it would be wise to communicate your thoughts openly. Do not overthink or pre-assume. Instead, if something is bothering you, speak about it. This may help you realize that you were worried for nothing.

Wrapping It All Up

Love stories in fairy tales often end with “…, and they lived happily ever after.” However, there is a significant difference between reel and real life. As famous American writer and novelist, Ms. Pearl S. Buck has said,

“A good marriage is one which allows for change and growth in the individuals and in the way they express their love.”

I agree with you that communication is so important for any relationship. Assuming you know what the other person is thinking is a recipe for disaster!

This seems like good advice. I wish my husband and I had gone to couples counseling before we got married to help us be better prepared for all marriage brings. We just celebrated our 38th anniversary, so it looks like we have figured most of it out.

I agree that assumptions aren’t healthy and can lead to resentment if you let them fester without talking to your spouse or significant other. Instead, it’s better to communicate about it instead of assuming.
