Frozen Minneopa Falls

Can you believe that winter is going to be here soon as well as the holidays?! I can’t believe how quickly it’s approaching. I know a lot of people who like summer better because they can find more things to do. I don’t think this is always true. There are many things to do in winter. You can usually find many places to go that may be in your area. You may just have to do some research to find some great places to visit.

Mankato, MN offers skiing, tubing and snowboarding at Mount. Kato Ski Resort, fat-tire biking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on the trails or cheering on the Mavs at a Division I MSU-Mankato hockey game. These are some great activities for the whole family to enjoy. Wouldn’t you love to try these with your family? I know my daughters would love to go there, and we live about two and a half hours away, so we definitely have the chance to check it out when winter approaches.  You could stay in the area and make it a great vacation for the whole family.  You’re going to find many activities that you can all enjoy.

Pat Christman Cars travel through the lighted tunnel at the Kiwanis Holiday Lights as the rest of Sibley Park shines behind it last week. The park is lit up for 33 nights this Christmas season.

If you’re looking for a fun family getaway, you’ll have to check out the Kiwanis Holiday Lights event. It’s open nightly from November 27 to December 31, with over 1 million LED lights to walk or drive through, pictures with Santa, live reindeer, ice skating & sleigh rides. I know my family would like this. We love to drive around just to view lights, so something like this would be amazing to see.

My family has never been to a light show like this before. I’m glad Mankato has this so we can check it out this year. If you love holiday lights too, then I’d recommend you go too.  I know it would be such a beautiful place to take pictures and witness all the colors. How amazing would that be?!

Mt. Kato

I haven’t been skiing for years, but it’s something I loved to do when I was younger. I’d love to take my family here and teach them how to ski. Also snow shoeing and cross-country skiing are fun. My daughters would have a blast with those. My youngest actually loves winter, so I know she would have a blast here.

Don’t hibernate this winter just because it’s cold and you can’t find anything to do. Head over to Mankato, MN and enjoy some of their winter activities. You’re going to find a lot of things that your family will love. What are some of your favorite winter adventures?

You know, we never went down to Mankato. We probably should have though. We only had Powder Ridge by our house. That light show looks awesome!

Mankato looks like the place to be this winter. That ice wall is world-famous and the holiday lights look equally amazing. It may be cold there but if you dress warmly I bet this location is super fun and memorable.
