Skating at Skate City

My oldest daughter who is 7, is in Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts is a great way for girls to get together and make new friends and learn about helping others as well. There are so many great benefits to joining Girl Scouts. My daughter, Mercades is very shy, so I love that she joined Girl Scouts. She’s made some friends along the way, and she’s getting to talk a bit more with more of the girls in the troop.

Recently the girls had a chance to go rollerskating at a place called Skate City. They could bring their family along to, which is what I loved. I have a younger daughter, Tesla who is 5 years old and not in Girl Scouts because she’s to young yet, but she enjoys going on all these trips with the girls. She’s very outgoing, so she loves being able to be around others. I’m sure she’ll join Girl Scouts when she’s old enough as well.

I have been to Skate City before, but that was over ten years ago. They have changed a lot since I was there last. They still have the skating area for everyone to skate around. They also have some games for you to play, along with food you can buy. One of the things that changed since the last time I was there, is that they had a play area for kids to play on.

You can even have birthday parties there. When I was 12 I had my birthday party here because it was my golden birthday. I had all my friends there and some family and had a great time skating. This brings back so many memories for me when I went here with my girls for Girl Scouts. It was so much fun too!

WP_20160424_13_44_21_Pro

My daughters are the two in the middle of the photo above. My youngest has the butterfly shirt on and she’s the one who is not in Girl Scouts, but comes with us all the time when the girls do activities. Jade is the one on the left with the purple shirt and purple glasses, and Suki is the girl on the right side with a purple colored shirt and jeans. Jade is my daughters cousin and Suki is a friend they met through one of my friends from school who recently moved back to our town! It was great because my girls have really gotten to know Suki and became such great friends with her. It worked out well for all of us.

Anyways..the girls were so excited to get to skating. This was their first time being able to go out skating. My girls are used to skating around with roller blades, but they still have some trouble with them. I think the skates were a lot easier for them when we went to Skate City. They did fall multiple times while they were out there, but the best thing is that they all kept getting back up and trying over and over again.

WP_20160424_15_16_15_Pro

Tesla was really enjoying skating towards the end of the day. She fell often in the beginning and even made me fall because she’d fall and I’d end up tripping over her. It was all fun though. I was very proud of her for getting out there and not giving up. She’s the outgoing one, and when they had different activities going on, she would join in on them.

WP_20160424_15_37_06_Pro

Mercades did not want to stop skating at all. She kept on going and she was doing very well after a while. She starting going on her own without me having to hold her hand and did such a great job. I’m very proud of her for never giving up even after the many falls she may have had. She held on to the wall a lot for some support, but sometimes there were no walls, so she had to do it without holding on to anything. She’s very shy usually, so it was surprising for me to see how well she was doing with all the people there, especially with wanting to go out there by herself. I’m extremely proud of her!

WP_20160424_15_35_10_Pro

When they started to do the limbo, my daughter Tesla was out there ready to do it. She was actually playing in the play area when they started it, so she didn’t notice til they were close to the end of limbo, but she went out there and tried anyways. You can see that she fell in this photo, but that doesn’t matter. I’m happy that she actually tried! She’s still learning how to skate, so for her to try this I was extremely proud of her.

All of the girls had a great time at Skate City. If you have ever been skating, then you know how much fun it can be. If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend going to Skate City. It didn’t cost much at all either. It’s $4 for those 5 and under and $6 for those 6 and older. You can bring your own blades if you’d like, otherwise it’s an extra $4 to rent blades. The skates are free rentals. It was definitely a great time for all of us! How many of you have ever been rollerskating or rollerblading?
