Did you all know that the month of October is national pizza month?! My family loves having pizza. We usually have it at least once a month. Our favorite pizza is when we make it ourselves. Homemade pizza has always been the best for me. I love to make them together with my kids, and they enjoy making them as well. It’s a great way to make dinner as a family, and everyone gets to pick their own toppings.

My youngest daughter was allergic to dairy from birth up to about 4-5 years of age. We would always make home-made pizzas for her with the Mama Mary’s pizza crust. Now that she is over those allergies, we still use the same crust and love it! We now just get to use all the same cheese so we can share the pizzas. My girls always have so much fun when they get to make a pizza for themselves.

On specially marked packages of Mama Mary’s Pizza Crust from October through November at Walmart stores nationally, there will be a fold-out booklet with more than $5 in coupon in savings from Mama Mary’s Pizza Crusts and Pepperoni, Dole® Pineapple, Cabot® Cheese, Kikkoman® Teriyaki, Barilla® Sauce, and Filippo Berio® Olive Oil…PLUS some great recipes! I hope that you’ll all grab some of these great products so you can save with these great coupons!

dsc_0700

Since it is national pizza month, I decided to make a pizza with some of these products. I picked up the Mama Mary’s pizza crust, a jar of Barilla sauce and some Dole pineapple. I used other items as well, but those were the main ingredients that I mentioned with the coupon savings. I decided to go with a Hawaiian pizza this time. Since I picked up some pineapple, I thought this would be a great time for a Hawaiian pizza.

dsc_0702

It’s so simple with the Mama Mary’s pizza crust! It’s a great idea to put some olive oil on your crust before you put all your toppings on it. If you read on the package it’s going to say that as well. I’ve mentioned before that I have used this crust before. I think it’s amazing, and I’ll continue to use it when we make our home-made pizzas. I love that the crust is always perfect once it comes out of the oven.

dsc_0704

I spread out some of the Barilla sauce on my Mama Mary’s crust, and then added my toppings, which were pineapple, onions, green peppers and black olives. I wanted this to be a Hawaiian type pizza, so these ingredients were perfect for this pizza. When I think of pineapple, I always think of Hawaiian, so that’s why I went with this type of pizza, and it’s delicious!

dsc_0711

After adding all those toppings, I sprinkled the cheese on top. Then I put it in the oven. This didn’t take long to cook at all. That’s one thing I love about the Mama Mary’s pizza crust, is that it usually doesn’t take that long for the pizza to fully cook. If you’re looking for a quick dinner, this is always a great way to go. It’s also fun to make your own pizzas, especially with the kids!

dsc_0717

Once the pizza was done, I took it out of the oven. It looked so delicious! I was very thrilled with the way it turned out. Everything was done perfectly. I love my cheese a little brown, so that’s how I made my pizza. It was so good too!

dex-mms

Since we are on the topic of food, I wanted to share about this book called DEX. This is a tween novel that is being featured in the store savings booklet with two “DEXCIPES”-DEX by Sheri Lynn Fishbach. It is a gawky, lovesick amateur chef that opens a gourmet lunch stand on his lawn. This is great for ages 8-up. Here is a great review that Kirkus wrote in July:  Review – Kirkus – July 1, 2016. Pull quote: “References to cookies, cakes, sweet and savory sauces, sumptuous platters, gourmet pizzas, and other mouthwatering fare that Fishbach energetically stirs into her fast and funny tale. A bit underdone in spots but a mostly delectable debut.” https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/sheri-lynn-fishbach/dex/

I hope that you’ll check out this great book! You can also get all those ingredients I mentioned for your own pizza, at Walmart. Make sure to look for those coupon savings while you’re shopping for these products!

Will you be celebrating national pizza month this month? Which of these toppings are you thinking about picking up to make your very own pizza?

We love make your own pizza night at our house, but I’ve never thought to make a Hawaiian pizza! I think my kids would love that. I’ll have to look for Mama Mary’s Crust the next time I’m out – it looks so much thicker than the current crust we use (which tends to break).
