Buying a gift for one person is hard enough, but trying to find something that two completely different people will both actually like and use is a whole other story. It’s easy to just grab a generic box of chocolates or a standard voucher from the supermarket on your way to their house (we’ve all done it!) but if you really want to get them something special it takes a little more thought. Whether it is for a wedding, an anniversary or just a joint Christmas present, you want something that celebrates a couple you’re buying for, here are a few ways you can go about it.
Put together a DIY hamper
Pre made hampers can be incredibly expensive and half the time they’re filled with things like weird flavoured jams and crackers that nobody actually eats. Putting together your own DIY hamper is a much better way to go. You can pick up a nice wicker basket or even a sturdy wooden crate and fill it with things you know they actually love. Think about their favourite wine or a nice bottle of spirits, grab some good quality chocolate and maybe some cosy matching socks for a quiet night in? You could even theme it around a movie night with popcorn and their favourite sweets. Just make sure to get some cellophane and a nice ribbon to tie it all up so it looks the part.
Book an experience day
Sometimes people just have too much stuff already, so getting them an experience instead of a physical object is a fantastic idea. It gives them an excuse to spend some quality time together and make some memories. It doesnt just have to be a generic spa day either, though a massage and sitting in a hot tub is always a winner! You could look into things like a couples pottery making class, a cookery course where they learn to make fresh pasta, or even an escape room if they like a challenge. If they are outdoorsy, booking a glamping weekend or a foraging walk is a really thoughtful idea.
Upgrade their home comforts
If they are a couple who love nothing more than being at home, getting them something that upgrades their space is always going to be appreciated. You could invest in a high quality coffee machine if your budget is higher so they can have cafe style drinks in their kitchen every morning, just be sure to pick up some good descaling liquid to help them maintain it! Alternatively a really luxurious set of high thread count bedding or some heavy weighted blankets are great for making their bedroom feel like a fancy hotel. It is the kind of stuff people rarely buy for themselves but love to receive.
A dedicated date night box
Life gets incredibly busy for everyone and it is easy for couples to forget to actually spend proper time together during the week. A date night box is a really lovely gift to encourage them to down tools and focus on each other. You can buy subscription boxes that send a new date idea every month, or you can just buy a really good two player board game and pair it with a nice bottle of something. It’s a simple idea but it gives them a reason to switch off the tv and just enjoy each others company for the evening.
