I have always loved to cook ever since I was little. It is something that I have always loved to do and creating my own dishes has always been fun as well. Trying to come up with your own recipes or your own spin on recipes can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. You want to make sure everyone is going to love your dish. One of my personal favorites, is Barilla pasta. They have many different noodles, and I love cooking with them to create a great dish for my family. I recently tried out the Barilla Pesto and I have to say I love it.

I recently gave pesto a try in a dish that I created. This was actually the first time I have ever had pesto sauce too, so that was new for me. I’m very happy that I had the chance to give it a try because it’s very delicious. I love the many ways you can use it, but I mostly love it in pasta dishes. Now that I have had the chance to try it, I’ll be using it a lot more from now on.

Facts About Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto

Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto is a flavor-packed, versatile, and convenient pantry staple that satisfies cravings for Italian food.

Imported from Parma, Italy, it’s made with fragrant Italian basil and freshly grated Italian cheese.

Creamy Genovese Pesto has a creamy, smooth texture and savory taste, making it ideal for stirring into pasta and grains, spreading on sandwiches, marinating meats and vegetables, or using it as a dip.

To preserve the natural color of basil and the fresh aroma of Italian Cheese, Barilla minimizes the handling of ingredients and rapidly prepares their recipe in as little as three hours from the start of ingredient preparation to the tightening of the lid.

With Creamy Genovese Pesto, a little goes a long way; one 6.2-ounce jar of pesto mixes well with 16 ounces of pasta.

A 6.2-ounce jar of Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto typically retails for $3.29.

My family has really been enjoying the Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto sauce. We are so glad we had the chance to try it out. I know I’ll be making more dishes like this for my family too. Mercades, my oldest, really enjoyed the pasta a lot. I’d say between her and I, we both loved it the most. I think this sauce is a lot better in my opinion compared to others I’ve tried. It’s nice to finally have the chance to try it, and I can’t wait to add it to other foods like breads and such.

You can check out the recipe below if you’d like to try it yourself. There isn’t much to it, as it’s very simple to make. There are not a lot of ingredients used in this recipe either. Overall, it’s a very easy and delicious recipe to make.

Chicken Spaghetti Pesto Pasta

  • 16.2 oz. Jar Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto
  • 1 lb. Barilla Spaghetti Noodles
  • 2 Chicken Breasts
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 Tomatoes ((May be more or less depending on size))
  • 2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  1. Cook the Barilla spaghetti noodles according to the package

  2. Cook up the chicken breast however you'd like. I usually do mine in a frying pan. Sometimes I'll opt to grill it to give it more flavor.

  3. Once the pasta is done cooking, drain it and put the pasta in a casserole dish. Make sure this dish can be used in the oven.

  4. Now mix up the pesto sauce with the noodles.

  5. Add in the onion and garlic powder and mix well.

  6. Either cut up the chicken in small pieces or shred it and add it to the pasta.

  7. Sprinkle with cheese on top.

  8. Now thinly slice up the tomatoes and lay them on top. You can put as many as you'd like on top, but I try not to add to many.

  9. Now it's ready to cook at 400° for 20 minutes or until all the cheese has melted.

Some Other Ways to Use Pesto

  • Stirring into warm pasta and grains (one jar to one 16-ounce box
    of pasta)
  • Spreading onto sandwiches or toast
  • Marinating meats and vegetables
  • Using as a dip for veggies and pita chips.

My family is excited to keep using the Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto. We are already trying to come up with some ideas for some great recipes. Pasta dishes are definitely going to be more in our future since we enjoyed the pesto on pasta a lot. We’re very interested to try it on other foods, especially for dips. It’s time for us to head to the store to pick some more up.

Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto is available to purchase at Target (SuperTarget), Publix, Stop & Shop (Super Stop & Shop), Meijer, ShopRite, Hy-Vee, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and more.
