Divorce Rates in the U.S.

9 October, 2013 by KatBp 1 Comment

Have you or someone you know ever been divorced? My parents have been divorced for many years. My husband and I have actually been married for five years. I remember being young when my parents got divorced and I don’t think I handled that to well. I knew it was coming though because of the way everyone was acting.

It’s sad, but about 41% of first marriages will end in divorce. That’s a very high number. I can actually believe this though and I thought at first it was about fifty percent, so it’s a bit lower than what I would have expected. Did you know that 3.6 out of 1,000 is about what the divorce rate is? That’s actually a pretty big number.

I couldn’t imagine what it’s like for any child to have to see their parents go through a divorce. I was old enough to know what was going on when my parents got divorced but I was still young. Sometimes it’s the best thing for a divorce though if there constantly fighting. You wouldn’t want that around your kids, would you? I know I certainly wouldn’t.

Did you know that couples tend to marry at an older age then was the case in 1970? I personally didn’t know this. I have seen a lot of couples getting married around the 20’s lately. Do you know anyone that is divorced?
