Do You Put Off Home Repairs?

10 September, 2013 by KatBp 4 Comments

Do you have any home repairs that need to be done? Are you always putting them off? Many homeowners have been putting off their home repairs. Most U.S. homeowners don’t have the money to spend on home repairs. I would definitely fall in to that category. If anything were to happen that needed repairs, I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to afford those either.

Did you know that approximately 64% of American homeowners do not have $1,000 dollars in savings to make home repairs? I could actually believe this. I know times are tough right now for everyone and it’s hard to have to come up with more money than what you wanted to spend, especially with home repairs. Nobody wants to have to fix something with their house and spend thousands more than they have.

My father is doing a lot of home repairs to his house. He’s been in the process of doing this for years. I have to say money definitely plays a big role. It’s so hard when you don’t have the extra money to pay for things like the repairs. It’s probably been ten years or even longer since he’s been working on this house and it’s nowhere near being finished.

Have you ever thought about saving money by doing some of the repairs by yourself? The DIY Network can help you with some of those repairs. They have a lot of videos and step by step instructions to help you do repairs. Have a leaking roof? Learn how to repair your leaking roof on the DIY Network website.

I know it’s hard to trust someone with your repairs. I have a hard time trusting someone just to watch my kids when I want to go out. You wouldn’t want someone messing up your house or leaving without finishing. You definitely wouldn’t want someone to take your money and run either. This is where doing your own repairs comes in handy. That way you’re not investing a lot of money with someone you may not trust.

Are you part of the percentage that needs home repairs but can’t afford it?

God this really speaks loud and clear to me. I have a broken faucet. A messed up ice dispenser in my fridge, plumbing issues, light issues. It goes on… I will definitely check this out, maybe i can do some of them! Thank you.
