Family Classics Wooden Mancala

One of my favorite games growing up has always been Mancala. This is definitely a strategy game, and I love games like that. My favorite types of games are those that can challenge you, and Mancala definitely does that. These are the best types of games to play with my family. My family members love this game as well. We’ve been playing it a lot lately.

About

Mancala is one of the world’s oldest and best-loved games, and our folding wooden Mancala board offers an affordable way to play that makes a great travel game as well as a great home edition. Players take turns scooping up the special stones and counting them out one at a time into the pockets on the board. When they drop a stone into an empty pocket on their side of the board, they capture all the stones in the opposite pocket. It sounds like a simple marble game, but it’s got plenty of strategy and reinforces STEM skills like counting and strategic planning. The player who collects the most stones wins.

  • Invented thousands of years ago, Mancala is one of the world’s favorite games of counting and strategy

  • Hinged wooden board folds for easy storage, making it a great choice for home and travel

  • Reinforces STEM and STEAM skills like counting and strategy

  • Tested for safety and quality

  • For 2 players, ages 6 and up

Simple Game

This game is very simple to learn. Once you get the hang of it, I’m sure you’re going to love it too. The object is to get as many beads to your side as possible. You move the beads from one pocket to the next. Lets say you have four beads, which is what you start with in each pocket. Then you take them all out and start moving them one by one in to each pocket. You want to get as many in your side of the mancala as possible.

It doesn’t matter how many beads are in your pockets. You just have to keep moving them until all of them are in both players mancalas. Whoever ends up with the most beads in their mancalas at the end will win. It really is a simple game to learn.

This is definitely a game you’ll want to play with your family and friends. It is only a two player, but we always switch up and play others. Sometimes we have fun competitions and the winner plays another player and so on until everyone has played. It’s a fun game to play against someone. It’s definitely one we’ll continue to keep playing.

If you can develop STEM or STEAM skills and have fun doing it I have to get this game. I need to give my nieces and nephews presents on a regular basis so this is a new idea.

We have a similar game in the Philippines. We call it sungka and each hole has 6 stones

I love strategy games too. This looks similar to Filipino’s game “sungka”. The only difference are stones.

It reminds me of a traditional game in my country called “sungka.” The concept is the same and we use shells instead of glass beads.
