Family Game Night With Continuum Games

30 December, 2019 by KatBp 34 Comments

With the weather getting cooler around here with it being Winter, my family enjoys a lot of time indoors. We tend to play a lot of games because it’s something that we love doing as a family, and it’s fun! Of course, we always are on the look out for new games to play. We have many games already, but we always look for something new and fun to play. It’s always fun getting to play games with the family. We recently have had a family game night with Continuum Games.

Some recent games we received, are Dud, Tentacle Tantrum and Happy Salmon. We had never played any of these games before, except for Happy Salmon. About a year ago, we played that game and ended up really liking it. It was great that we were able to now get the game because my kids have been playing it a lot and still love it.

Dude

In a nutshell: it’s a card game where you say “dude.” The goal is to quickly find matches for as many of your cards as you can. Some cards are spelled Dewd or Doooode so it’s funny to see how people say it differently. At the same time, listen carefully to how other players are exaggerating the one-word clue. Trying to figure out if you have the same card as another player is the essence of this laugh-out-loud game. For 3-6 players.

The game Dude was a lot of fun for my daughters and I. They’ve been asking to play this one a lot. It’s very interesting to see how everyone says the word too. Each card has the word “dude” on it, but they may be spelled different or just look different. Either way, it’s still said the same, but you can try to say each word the way you’d like. This was so interesting because of the way everyone says the words. We all definitely said them differently. Once you really catch on with this game, it’s extremely fun.

Happy Salmon

Happy Salmon is the simple, the fast-paced card game that gets everyone moving (and laughing) in under two minutes. Players simultaneously call out actions like “High-5”, “Pound It”, “Switcheroo”, and “Happy Salmon.” When two players match, they celebrate by performing the action and discarding their card. The first player to discard of all their cards wins! The Happy Salmon zippered pouch includes 72 cards, a rulebook, and the great-for-traveling-upstream pouch.

My daughters and I had played Happy Salmon before about a year or so ago. We really enjoyed the game a lot once we started playing it. I think this is such a great game for the whole family to play. They have different actions for everyone to do if you put down the same card at the same time while saying that at the same time as well. In that case, you’ll have to do what the card says. Sometimes it’s “pound it” or it may be “happy salmon”, but whatever it says, you have to do. There is even a “switch” card where you’ll have to switch your decks of cards. Once the first person runs out of cards, they’ll win!

Tentacle Tantrum

This octopus frenzy game of matching sea creatures by color, shape, or both encourages hand-eye coordination, quick thinking and matching skills. Roll the dice and snatch matching sea creatures with the suction cup on the end of your squiggly octopus arm! Match by color or match by kind, but snatch ‘em up quick! If you catch the most, have a fit! You win Tentacle Tantrum! Boxed game includes 6 tentacles, 2 dice and 72 sea creature tiles.

My daughters really enjoyed this game a lot. It was a lot of fun for me as well. It’s definitely a game where you have to be quick too. Just look for the color or sea creature and stick one of them with the tentacle. If you get both the color and sea creature together, you get the bonus! Such a fun game to play with kids. This is one that we really love and will enjoy for years to come.

If you’re looking for some fun games to play with the family, I’d highly recommend some of these from Continuum Games. They have a lot of other great games too. We love games from them, and especially love these new ones we’ve gotten. I know we are excited to continue to play these.

Do you have any games from Continuum Games?

Reading about these games made me miss those times when my kids were still little. We still have family games nights though, but we have “leveled up” to more “adult” card games. I will recommend these continuum games to my cousin. Her daughters are just the right age for them.

Our youngest daughter is four and she so badly wants to be involved in all the game nights. It’s not easy finding something she is interested in and can actually play but these are great options!
