Get Moving: Tips to Living A More Active Lifestyle

10 June, 2019 by KatBp 54 Comments

This post was sponsored by Optimum Nutrition as part of Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

As some of you may know, I’ve been trying to live a more active lifestyle. I started off the year right with a resolution of exercising more and eating better. All was going well for the first three months, until I went on a vacation with my family. A lot of nutritious eating and exercise was going on during my vacation. I was doing well, even while I was on vacation, until I returned home. That’s when I slowly stopped exercising and still ate somewhat well, but not like I was doing before. Here I am again, trying to get back to living an  active lifestyle.

There is a sweepstakes going on right now where you have a chance to win an awesome prize pack including Optimum Nutrition products, a Schwinn Bicycle, and accessories. The Get Out Get Active Sweepstakes runs from May 19, 2019 – June 30, 2019, so make sure to enter while you can!

For official rules please visit GetActiveThisSummer.com

I can admit that making changes can be challenging. It’s not always easy when you want to change your lifestyle. Being a mother, I live a very busy life. I’m constantly on the go and putting others before myself. I never really put myself first because I want my family to always have what they need. It may be difficult, but I am ready to take more care of myself. I want to be able to take the time for myself and be more active. That means I have to start off each day right by making the right choices for me.

Eating a Good Breakfast

Mornings always start with a good breakfast. Normally, I don’t have a lot of time to make up a breakfast, so I like to lean towards cereal since it’s a quick and easy breakfast item. Of course I am very careful with which cereal to choose because many of them have ingredients that are not the greatest for me.

Kashi GO Cereal- Peanut Butter Crunch is a wonderful choice for me. I love the taste of peanut butter, and we all know that peanut butter is packed with protein. This product is actually packed with 10 grams of protein per serving. It tastes great with its crunchy clusters that are bursting with peanut butter goodness! It’s a powerful cereal that has plant-based nutrition. This is perfect for fueling your day so that you can start off the day right!

Getting in Some Good Exercise

I love to start off my morning with a good exercise. I find it better for myself if I exercise in the morning. That way I’m feeling more energized throughout the day. My favorite forms of exercise are biking and walking. My goal for each day is to get my 10,000 steps in. If I can at least do that many steps a day, then I’ll be proud of myself. Of course I’d love to hit over the 10,000 mark, but as long as I get those in, I know I’m doing okay.

Since biking is a great form of exercise, I need to make sure I have the correct bike that is going to handle well. The 26″ Men’s Schwinn Sidewinder Bike is a great choice for biking, especially if you love to bike on the trails like I do. These mountain tires are designed for trails because of the knobby tread, which is great for me! It even has 21-speed Revoshift twist shifters and a Shimano rear derailleur, which provide a wide gear range and quick shifts. This bike has got a lot of great qualities.

The bike is even on sale at Walmart right now. You can get it for $148! A great price for a bike!

Drink Plenty of Water

Water is just about the only drink I have throughout the day. It’s very good for you and can keep you more energized throughout the day. I actually don’t like sugary drinks and they always make my stomach upset, so water has always been my choice of drink.

Water is such a great choice for you, and I’m sure you all know that. If you just can’t drink plain water, then I’d recommend water flavoring that has no sugar in it or adding in some fresh fruit! That will give it more flavor without all those added sugars.

A Better For You Snack

We all get hungry throughout the day and normally have a snack in between meals. It can be difficult to find a snack that actually tastes good and is overall better for you. I do love fruits and vegetables, but sometimes I want something different. Since protein is very good for you, I love having a snack like the Salted Toffee Pretzel Protein Crisps.

These bars are high protein bars that have a delicious, crispy texture and each of these bars provides 20g of protein! These are definitely my go-to when I need some protein. It’s amazing how much protein is in one bar. These are by far one of my favorite protein bars too. I normally have a hard time finding ones that I actually enjoy, so I’m happy to have found these. They’re delicious!

The protein cake bites are another great choice for a good snack. I find these to be a great grab and go option for when you need a quick snack. They are also packed with 20 grams of protein in each 3-cake serving. These snacks are coated with yogurt or chocolate flavored frosting. I find these to also be a very delicious protein snack. It’s amazing that I was able to find two snacks that are packed with protein that I can actually enjoy.

Taking Time For Yourself

I know this can be a hard one for many of us, including myself. I’m always putting others before me, so I don’t always take the time for myself like I know I should. I’m always finding time to find activities for my kids, but never really for myself. It can be exhausting! I’ve now decided that I need to start taking better care of myself, and if that means taking some time to myself, then I’m going to do it.

I think being able to take some time for yourself is extremely important. We all know that stress can get the best of us. That’s why I think we all need to have some me time. This could be anything, from being as simple as watching a movie or reading a book. Anything that you love to do to help keep yourself relaxed. Sometimes you just have to put yourself before others so that you’re not feeling physically or emotionally drained. I’ve learned that if I take even a short about of time each day for myself, I start to feel a whole lot better throughout the day.

Treat Yourself

Everyone deserves to have a treat every now and than. Treat yourself to something that you enjoy. You should never feel guilty after having a treat. I believe we all have to treat ourselves sometimes. Michelob ULTRA has some great guilt-free light beer, so you won’t have to worry about feeling guilty afterwards.

Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold is made with organic grains for a pure and refreshing taste. It only has 2.5 carbs and just 85 calories. Pure Gold is triple filtered and brewed free of artificial colors and flavors. It’s a light lager with a superior golden taste.

Maybe you enjoy your beer with more of a lime taste. Michelob ULTRA Lime Cactus has a little more calories than the Pure Gold, but it’s only at 95 calories and 5.5 carbs. This one offers a refreshing lime taste without weighing you down.

Disclaimer: The legal drinking age in the United States of America is 21 years of age or older. Please drink responsibly.

Now you know more about how I’m going to be living an active lifestyle. I’m excited to continue on my journey of being more active. I know it’s going to be a challenge, but with all the right products, I know I can do it.

This Summer is going to be such a great time to get out and be active. You now know what I’m going to be doing to stay more active this Summer. Now it’s time to hear about you!

What will you be doing to get active this Summer? Any goals or habits you want to take on?

I have been trying really hard to live a healthier lifestyle as well. Right now my struggle is working out. I was doing so good with it but for some reason I stopped doing it first thing in the morning. If I don’t do it first thing then I never seem to find the time to do it at all.
