Since I’m part of the Jennie-O Switch Circle Blogger program, I get some great Jennie-O products sent to me a few times a year. It’s great to get these products, because I love Jennie-O. They have such great quality products that taste amazing. This time around I was given one of their newest products, which is the oven ready Cajun style whole turkey.

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, this product would be great for Thanksgiving. Turkey is a huge part of Thanksgiving, so maybe this Cajun style turkey would be different! I certainly thought this was a great turkey for the holidays. I love that it’s Cajun style because it’s something different, and I love foods with extra spice to it.

This turkey is great for my family of four. What I love about these oven ready turkeys, is that they require no thawing. You can take them right out of the freezer and put them straight in the oven. I find this to be such a life saver. Thawing out turkeys take so much time. I love that Jennie-O has a lot of these oven ready turkeys. That means on Thanksgiving day I can pop it right in the oven from the freezer. There is a pop up timer with this as well, so that makes it easier to tell when the turkey is finished. I always love the pop up timers.

I was surprised at how quick this turkey was to cook too. I would say mine was done in about 3 1/2 hours. It does say it can take about four hours, but that also can depend on your oven or the weight of the turkey. Mine may have been done sooner, but this is when I checked on it, and it was perfect the way it turned out. I do like mine a little burnt on the top, so this was great. As you can probably see, this turkey was cooked in a bag. I had to cut a few slits in the bag before I cooked it. It does cook right in this bag. Once it’s finished cooking, you’ll want to let it sit for about 15 minutes before you cut the bag off.

The turkey smelled so great when it was cooking, and even better once I took it out of the oven. It did also come with a gravy packet, so after I let it cool down I poured that on top of the turkey. I think it gives it more of a flavor and sometimes turkeys can get a bit dry, so it helps with that as well. I didn’t have problems with this turkey being dry though, it turned out great!

dsc_0799

Jennie-O certainly has the best turkey out there. I have never found a better turkey. I always stick with Jennie-O now because of how tender and juicy the turkey turns out to be. I could even think of some great recipes that you could make with this turkey.

If you haven’t picked up a turkey for Thanksgiving yet, I’d recommend something from Jennie-O. If you would like to try something new, then go with this Cajun style turkey! It’s got a great kick of spice to it, so if your family loves a spice to their meals, then this would be the perfect way to go.
